My biggest leak was losing my stack with TPTK or overpair hands.

I thought ABC poker was the end all be all of poker. That there was a 'correct' way to play poker and everyone else who deviated from the ABC TAG style of poker were just donks who didn't have my mastery of poker...

I used to get mad at people calling my raises with garbage LOL.
I used to complain that I can only beat good players LOL.

Lastly, I did not truly understand how much I didn't even know and how COMPLICATED the game of poker really is.

When I was playing $100NL full-ring at Cryptologic network a few years ago, I used to always bet/raise whenever I thought I was "ahead of his range" because I didn't want to give free cards to any possible draws. So like if I called a PFR with 55 and flopped 9 2 5r, well I had to raise his c-bet 100% of the time, ldo, b/c "what if he has 43? I don't want to give free cards." Or if I had TT and the flop came 722, I would either raise his c-bet or fold, b/c calling is weak and if I was ahead, I needed to protect my hand from overcards. I think this might be because I had only read SSHE, which is a limit book, and was applying the wrong concepts when playing NL. I thought I could make some savvy preflop adjustments to account for the different structure of the game and that postflop would play almost the same as limit. Those savvy adjustments were to setmine when getting odds with pocket pairs, and to not open and call 3-bets light. These are good things to do, certainly, but are not exactly the entire difference between playing Limit and NL. Clearly, I never floated, because calling was bad. The only time I would just call postflop was when I had a draw and was getting the right odds to chase.

The amazing thing is that I was a solid winner in these games, because my opponents were even worse than I was.

Thinking I could make people fold. I still lose a full BI now and again thinking I can make people fold but less so.

Being results-oriented and feeling like I have to beat the microdonks in every single session if I ever want to have success at higher levels...I'm still struggling with it actually.

Everyone starts out thinking that outplaying people means beating them in every pot. I've tried to teach myself to recognize situations in which I lost a lot less money than I could have and didn't pay off people's monsters, which is critical, and just as important as getting paid for yours.

I think i try to move villian off hands too often. I still make this mistake. If you think he has TP, don't bluff.(6max)

only at the early learning stage so still plenty of leaks, but the ones so far.

-autopiloting, just clicking shove/call/fold without actually sitting up and thinking about what I was actually doing a why

-always putting them on a winning hand, and then when I swang the complete opposite direction and like others got out of hand with cbets, double and triple barrels.

-big leak in Sngs for me was having too wide a calling range (with shoves) , I just kept running into better hands every time.

- overvalueing Ax and offsuit-connectors
- overvalueing weak flushdraws (i always tried to get it in on the flop with every fd)
- open-limping

Calling 3bet OOP, limping is right in some situations. Playing too tricky. Playing too loose, too nitty and then playing what I shouldn't.

This.

Also I used to never be able to fold to a minraise for some reason. I actually think I tried to play too much clever poker, when for my level it was simple, dont bluff they will call you down with any pair and just value bet your hands. Simples.

Try playing more postflop poker is better as well. I tended to get it in pre with QQ/AK and find myself rarely being in great shape. At 5NL and 10NL people hardly ever get it in with JJ/AQ so I needed to fix this.

Ego by way of table talk. I'd tell bad players what they did wrong and brag on what I did right. Because I was so good I could spew information on my play and still win ldo.

Lightbulb moment: bragging that I didn't know anything about pot odds. Otherwise chatty table got very quiet, until a couple of players said, "Really?" I was out in five hands.

I would say about 50 sec to a min or so ( it felt like forever but wow did it feel good to let it out ). Was holding it for like 45 mins.

Grunch.

Playing when I knew it was a bad idea.

Wrong frame of mind, tired, etc.

Making hero calls or three-barreling way too much into boards I obv am not folding villains off of.

Basically, trying to win every pot.

Not thinking in hand ranges. Bluffing too much. Not folding TPTK. Playing hands OOP (not knowing importance of position).
