Which is the worst cooler? Which is the worst cooler?

Just wondering which is the worst cooler that can happen in Texas Hold'em.

I think that 4 of a kind against royal flush runner runner can be the worst. However it could be funny to know the maths and the probability behind this

Of course coolers are linked also to the amount of money we lose with them.

For example this is me with less than 15 player left in a big tourney, I could go chipleader:

I tell you mine, i never forget that one.

Place: Binions, Vegas.
game 1/2 NL, stacks 300, shorthanded, opoonent was 70y old fragile looking nit.

My hand QT, Button.
I raise to 25, BB calls (the nit). I was raising the whole time pretty big.

Flop QTT. Jackpot.
He checks. I bet 75. He calls.
Turn 8. He checks. I bet 175. He calls.
River 8. He checks. I bet the rest. He calls.

His hand:
88

BBV is the best place for discussing coolers, they have heaps of stories of the worst coolers you could imagine. Just pop on over and ask them... *evil grin*

Oh that reminds me. To shut that down at live tables, whenever someone starts with a bad beat story:

"STOP! Are you going to tell me a bad bad story? If yes, then i charge 1 dollar for listening to it."

So for the boring maths answer, a situation where after the flop the only way someone can win is to be dealt one of two exact cards, then the other card, is the most unlikely.

Easiest example is quads beaten by runner-runner higher quads or straight/royal flush. Something like:

KcKd vs AQhh

On a board of: KsKh3d

Where the only way for AQhh to win is to hit either the Jh or Th on the turn, and the other of those two on the river.

So the chance that AQhh wins is (2/45)*(1/44) = 1/990, or roughly 0.1%.

Similarly, KcKd vs AcAd on a board of KsKh3d gives a 1/990 chance of the aces winning (as we need runner-runner aces).

Ive lost quads over quads a couple times, also str flush over str flush.

As for the worst cooler, presumably 8c9c on TcJcQc with villain holding KcAc since straight flushes are rarer than quads right? They rank higher so I presume so.

Maybe you mean something different. getting 1 outered on the river for instance.
