There is almost certainly a forum here to help, and there are lots of youtube videos. Most of the learning is done solo though which makes it harder, because reflection and honesty about yourself is the most difficult

You can always start with preflop ranges and understanding how strong your hand is postflop. More of a what than a how I suppose.

You are going to need to be more specific. What game? What format? What stakes? What do you already know, and what resources have you used? Do you know the rules of poker, and of hold'em? Do you understand game mechanics? etc., etc., etc...

Let us know where you are at, and we can help you go to the next level. But before you do that, go to the top of this thread, and read through the 'Best of Beginners Questions' thread. There are tons of links there with a lot of good content.

https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/7...hreads-672024/

and the rest of the concepts, http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/78...ntents-397190/

but dont start applying everything you read instantly, start with learning how to build a range of cards that you raise when you're first to act, start to think about why you would call with what cards in which positions (tip: there's not that many) but you need a preflop calling range otherwise you leave money on the table,.

Once you feel like you know why you can raise K9o and it being a good hand to be aiming at the blinds, and why sometimes you would rather have 75s vs the blinds.

You'll understand what you are trying to exchieve post flop with the cards you choose pre.

Than re read all the stuff on the site, PLAY, play lots, watch the hands play one table and only one table till you are not losing.

Become a winner, than a loser, than a winner and hopefully eventually just a winner,.

Enjoy.

Hope this helps you on ur path

For a real beginner who wants to learn Holdem, I'd recommend Ed Miller's "Getting Started In Holdem".

It's been a while since I read that but wasn't that primarily a limit book (not that it matters for the really basic stuff, but could cause issues quite quickly)

It is mostly about limit holdem, but most of the basics are applicable to both, plus it has a section on NL about playing shortstacked NL as a beginner which I still find useful today. And even if someone wants to play NL eventually, I think it is better for a beginner to start out playing limit. I started out learning playing 2/4 limit in a casino. Wouldn't think most beginners would want to start out playing a game where they could easily lose $100 in the first hand they played.

Yeah, that's kind of how I remembered it and I agree with your thoughts.

In terms of "natural progression" from limit to NL you have to consider OP's unknown location, in many places outside the US limit basically doesn't exist, first flop game I learned was PLHE and never played a hand of limit until depositing on Paradise before Stars existed

You should play tighter against raises, and raise a lot yourself. The other thing is avoiding unsuited hands. Once you have these skills down, you’re ready to start making some little money.
