Hey all so I made a post the other day about how I should think hands through etc
So I put $40 on stars last night a thought I would play $50 nlhe and would be playing just for the thinking through each hand and practice really concentrating on each reasoning and decision this was zoom aswell but some how 1275 dealt hands later I left.the table with $420
Also found out pokertracker do a trial version before you buy so think the graph of last nights session will look cool

So my question now that I have a nice bankroll to start me off what should I be playing, I was thinking that I should drop to $10nlhe and
$2-$5 sngs gonna just 1 table for the first few days while I am practicing thinking hands through

Full ring or 6max?
12-15 Buyins for full ring.
22-25 for 6max.

Start at 2nl if your just beginning, if you don't your going to donate all that money back.

Epic run to get that amount of profit.

You don't say what your experience is though. Are yo a true beginner or just new to stars?

Dropping down some seems wise regardless. Play within limits and build from there.

Good luck.

Depends if you can redeposit if you lose your roll and how good you are

you got very lucky with $40 you could have just as easy lost it in the first hand

Yeah, depends what kind of experience you got, how much passion you really have for the game and if you have some money set aside to reload if you should bust that 400 dollars. Personally, i think you should play 10nl, you got 40 buyins, go with that. Unless of course, you have no means of reloading, but i cant see you going broke if you managed to turn 40 into 400, stick to 10 nl

Yeah good idea, play 1 or 2 sngs at the side, good to mix it up

Another +1 - play in the games that have the absolute lowest available stakes if you're a beginner.

I personally would recommend that a beginner start out in cash games even though tournaments are more fun. Don't know if other posters will agree.

I agree because the freedom of choice that cashgames allow. You can quit a cashgame at any time if you're tired or tilting or have to take a dump or for whatever reason. Tournaments do not allow such freedoms.

Tournaments also have the drawback that even the best tournament players bust out and win nothing a majority of the time.

play small and move up when you are sure you can beat the game you are in. keep about 20 buyins. small stakes dont put you out of poker for life if you go broke in them.

I would start at 10nl and study. Best thing you can do. You have 42 buy-ins, so that gives you a good starting point.

Agree with this. Sure u can go play 2nl, but if you don't need to then why bother.

Just be honest with yourself and your game. Don't think to yourself ur some kind of prodigy just coz u had a good session. If u start losing at 10nl then move down levels until u can start winning.

Beware of FPS. Very easy to become over confident.

Good luck op
