Since i'm a newbie online and I notice lots of players here mention about poker ev..i would appreciate it if you can explain to me what this software is about

ev = expected value.
A play is said to have positive expected value if more often than not it makes money. Similarly if you make plays with negative expected value you have a leak in your game. The ev concept comes from statistics.
Simple example
You are on a flush draw. You know your opponent is afraid of flushes when they hit the board and he will fold rather than put more money into the pot on a 3-flush board. There is $100 in the pot. Your opponent bets $50 and you are pretty sure the only way to beat him is to catch your flush. Let's calculate your expected value.
If you call and win you will make $150. However, you will only win 18% of the time.
The expected value contribution of this scenario is $150 x 18% = $27
However, 82% of the time when you lose, your $50 call = 82% x -$50 = $41
Your expected value of calling your opponents bet is $27 - $41 = -$14 If you made this play 1000 times, you would expect to lose somewhere in the neighborhood of $14,000.
I put the part about your opponennt folding to flushes to take the implied odds out of the equation, but if you are confident he is good for another $100 on the river, you can assume $250 * 18% = $45 and then your overall EV for the play is positive because $45 - $41 = $4. Over the course of 1000 hands played like this (and assuming villain will always pay), you could expect to earn $4000

wow very informative.. however this is not realistic because you never know what the villan will do. With that said, the program would be trash?

Sorry, didn't know you were asking about a program. I thought you were asking about the concept of expected value in poker. I haven't used the program.

its software that just calculates all in equity. I am currently running hotter than i ever have in my life according to poker ev. over my last 8700 hands i shoulda made 353 bucks but ive made 668 playn nl 25 and 50. It has a nice bell curve graph feature and when you running neutral the left half on graph is red and right is white. My graph is all red. I didnt know this kind of run good was possible over 8700 hands!
its free and easy to use. you have to have pokertracker (possibly holdem manager) to make it work
