what does barelling mean, double barell, triple barelling etc?

When you continuation bet you fire a shot (at taking down the pot/your opponent, whatever) if he calls this we might choose to fire that 2nd barrell, if he calls again we might choose to fire the 3rd barrell on the river.

It's a gun analogy applied to the pokers.

Single barrel= bet flop
Double barrel= bet flop and turn
Triple barrel= bet flop, turn and river.
The quadruple barrel is explained in more detail here.

I've seen it said (and it might be true) that barreling is firing off a bet when you have nothing. I use it to simply mean betting a street.

eg, in my notes:
straightforward, triple barrels sets.

I was waiting for him to be shot 3 times and it didn't happen - how dissapointing.
