what do you think about building a random spazzing out range? what do you think about building a random spazzing out range?

this will be against regs who i know mostly wont ship with under tptk.

once in a while just do something completely insane to put him to a test. every time i check river and they put out some thin value bet and i know they have exactly tpwk and i'll spazz out allin with 8 high. flip the tables.

spazzing range would be on scare cards, and mostly in late position pots against regs who i have some info on. dont want a call so would have to be a big allin spazz

every time i do it i'll note it down so the next time i do it i'll have the nuts against that particular reg

Why wouldn't you always push them off their hand?

Optimal play has a bluffing component where on the river you will c/r a certain % of bluffs and lead out a certain % of bluffs which are done with the weakest part of your range in that position i.e. hands with absolutely no showdown value (something like 54s with a busted draw would be a perfect example of a hand to bluff with). Finding the correct % and the correct raise size is the hard part, getting these wrong can become very costly.

Because then they catch on and stop folding (or stop thin value betting). If you keep it at a high percent but below 100% then quite often they never catch on. As long as they see you fold sometimes they think they are playing correctly.

It sounds less like a spazzing range and more like making a large river raise on a scary board in order to bluff a reg whose thin value river bet indicates they do not want to play for stacks. Aren't our cards largely irrelevent here? I think villain's range is polarised to the extent that our 2nd pair hands play exactly as well as our air when he calls.

Just reviewed the TIPP bit on optimal river ranges...
The correct c/r range is hands that are a fraction too weak to c/c and a fraction too strong to c/f. So if vil is b/f too often then I guess c/r second pair is probably a very solid play, the weakest hands should be b/f instead of c/r'ed. This of course is assuming vil is not just constantly bluff b/f the river, in which case a better line would be to widen the c/c range to include second pair rather than c/r range.

Then this is no longer true for that player:
