Hi Speedlingz
Welcome the 2p2 forums. Look at the stickies at the top of this page. Look for the one with this title...
*** READ THIS FIRST!!! What do the numbers xx/yy/zz mean? *** BEGINNER FORUM FAQ ***

They are stats for the opponent that PokerTracker 3 and Hold'em Manager give based on how they have been playing. The first number is VP$IP, Voluntarily Put $ In Pot, which is self-explanatory. The second number is PFR, Preflop raise percentage, self-explanatory. The third number is their AF, Aggression Factor. A higher number means more bets and raises, and a lower number means more calls. I don't know if folds calculate into this. I think this is not used for pre-flop right? You want your PFR to be about 4/5 as much as your VP$IP or something.

Play tighter starting hands, play them in position, raise them proper sizes, limp much less, steal from the button and the cutoff. If you want to get started, try this...

That's Pletho's starting hand guide for No Limit Texas Hold'em Full Ring Cash Games, check it out. It is great, but not perfect. Replace about 75% of the recommended limps with raises. You can also loosen up a little bit(not much), but may want to wait until you are more experienced.

Somebody with a VP$IP much higher than their PFR is limping too much and raising too little, they may be a "calling station". In general raising and folding are better than calling. If somebody's PFR is very high or very low they are too loose or too tight.

So, tell us about yourself. Good luck, Yojimgari

Aggression factor specifically refers to a players tendency toward betting POSTFLOP. AF is also based on a ratio. AF = 2 means someone bets/raises twice as often as he calls/checks. AF = 0.5 means someone bets/raises half as often as he calls/checks. AF = infinity means the player has never checked or called postflop.

I fairly sure AF doesnt account for any checks. I believe its [ (bets + raises)/ Calls ].

I haven't actually looked for myself in over a year, so if it changed it's news to me.

AF is Bets+Raises divided by Calls. It doesn't count checks or folds.

Lego05, I three-table 2NL FR CG on PS. My AF is 3.90 for 10,652 hands, is that good? I have no idea what AF is supposed to be. Thanks, Yojimgari

On its face the # certainly seems fine. My AF is ~3.5. Different players have different numbers and 3.9 isn't even close to being so insane in either direction that it can't possibly be good.

However, while the number may be fine it is possible for you to still be playing poorly. You still may be betting/raising when you should be calling and you still may be calling when you should be betting/raising. Gotta review hands and stuff.

But yea there is nothing inherently wrong with having that number for an AF.
