During my first year as a member of team online I ran below ev 11/12 months and the month I ran above was only just above so I can comfirm this isn't the case. This year I'm still below ev but it's a lot closer.

Things like replying to questions asked of them at the tables, blogging, twittering, we made a couple of strategy video's, hosting the Sunday Major's and wcoop/scoop events (I was probably the only one who volunteered to do more because I actually enjoyed doing it). Wearing the pokerstars brand when playing live (although I could never afford to play live so never did this personally).

You know recently I'm really trying to wrap my head around this Table Selecting,
if I know the people are playing tight preflop, they'll have AA/KK/QQ more often than not, making setmining more profitable because someone playing 6/4 is more likely to have something he might want to make a mistake with postflop than someone playing 70/5, who's never stacking off unless he hits 2pair+ and who will most likely fold to your attempts to stack him with a set.

Which makes setmining against those guys less profitable than those 6/4 people who're likely stacking off because they only play AA/KK/QQ and get married to those hands on a nice looking J62r board while the fish just fold their onepair/air hands if you start raising them.

I thought beeing "targeted" at the table by overly aggresive players was a good thing? Don't they pay you off more than not because they want to bluff a pro out of a pot? Or just to win a pot against a pro?

It didn't work like that for me, I was floated a tonne and rarely had success with my steal attempts meaning I had to play a lot tighter which made me easier to play against. Maybe so some players could gain from it but I couldn't.

I'm running below EV and can't afford to play live. Maybe Stars will sign me up!

(I don't really fancy having a spade-shaped target on my back though. It's hard enough to grind a profit on Stars without everyone trying extra hard to beat you.)

The player has to do certain things in order to "unlock" clauses in the contract. Wear the patches in a live tourney, earn $. Make it to a final table of a televised tourney, earn more $. If they play live as well as online, I imagine the VIP manager arranges all their travelling; booking hotels for them etc. In return, the pro has to "represent" the site, by doing boring promotional stuff like getting interviewed by Kara Scott. It's a hard life.
In some cases, the bonuses they earn for online grinding are paid in FPPs, earned at a much higher rate than we mortals. (Stars' chat moderators are apparently paid solely in FPPs, not cash, which must give the PS accountants a good laugh).
You think Kara Scott is boring?

Man I would kidnap her in a second and blame Canada!

I think sponsored pors must put in 15hrs min online also a week.

But the pokerstars passports they get every year, man must be nice!
