Weakness and Exploitation Weakness and Exploitation

Hello all,

I am hoping to start a thread that gets input from all types of NL players, especially higher limit cash game players.

We all know hold 'em is about identifying and exploiting our opponent's weaknesses and using those weaknesses against them so they make mistakes. The more mistakes they make, the more money we make.

In this thread I would like people to identify a weakness you see in other players, or even yourself, then explain how you will use that weakness against your opponent.

Example:

1) Opponent bluffs too much on the river; call him down more often.
2) Opponent rarely/never bluff raises; when he raises, you can be pretty sure he has a big hand and you can get away from a hand easier which saves $ in the long run.
3) Opponent rarely/never check raises; bet more hands behind this player than normal.

Hopefully this list will become long and we can catalog the mistakes and how to use them to help us become better players.

Thanks for the input.

Opponent stacks off light = your implied odds are greater
Opponent bets too small = drawing hands can be chased profitably
Opponent bets when checked to = check raise for value
Opponent is too tight = steal blinds
Opponent folds to c-bet = steal blinds/ iso raise

A guy limps and calls almost any PF raise:

I isolate him a lot and bet him off most flops. If he peels most flops too, I make sure to isolate with more pairs, Aces, and big cards, hands with showdown value.

When I have a very big hand like TT+ or AJ+, I isolate him with bigger raises like 6x to 10x, since he calls almost all raises including these sizings. Other players will be afraid of your large raises since they are irregular on your part and they will have to commit a ton of chips to 3bet or call you.

I think this is an excellent thread idea, anyone else want to share?

Villain minraises with air/draw - Repop when you have a hand.
Villain overbets with big hands - Fold without a monster
Villain overbets when bluffing (not often) - Call/raise lighter
Villain steals often - 3bet light

This is a good thread idea.

People who CBet flop a lot - Susceptible to floats, c/r, and c/r bluffs. (Believe it was said I just added to it) Be careful to not make too much of a habit of it though.

The susceptible to floats part is exceptionally true if in addition they rarely ever fire a second barrel. I think I've recently spotted a reg or two whom this applies to.

This is situational as will all of these be,but:

In HU you can look to tilt a player. This is their weakness, they are tilt prone.I know this is a little off to the side of what OP had in mind but it stills constitutes a weakness nonetheless.

Things like 3 betting then c-betting any of their raises will tilt them (this has to be done with skill or you're going to land yourself in it)

Raising every single button 3x until they show resistance or just plain tilt off stack (again skillfully), follow it with c-bets etc. Some people just can't handle the constant pressure and they just go off on one.

My personal favourites though have to be:

Typing "n1" in the chatbox everytime you win a pot or you beat them at showdown, also especially in big pots.

Typing "OK" everytime you take a big pot. Try to make it look like your foreign as hell.

Just work out how to tilt them and do it. Turn off their chat as well so they can't fight back, real mature
