Depends on how many tables you play + how distracted you get, but it generally won't help you play better poker.

I don't think that's a good idea, you'll get confused if you multitable.

I 4 table in the living room and my roommate usually has the TV on when I play so I watch it a little. I only will do this if he is watching something like House reruns so I already know what is going on and am really just listening to the dialogue. If there is a show I am interested in and want to watch for the first time I stop playing and pick up after it is over. I know it is probably -EV but you do get better at it. I don't think it could ever really be +EV but it does allow me to play a little longer than I would have.

It is a big deal. The purpose of playing a single table is to pay attention to the game in great detail and pick up on player tendencies. If you aren't doing so, because every time you fold you glance over at the TV, you defeat the entire purpose of playing a single table.

When single tabling try to remember who won the last 3 showdown pots and with what hands.

Probably isn't a good idea, I do it sometimes though. The way my place is laid out I have to turn way to the left to see the tv though, so I mostly end up missing what's on TV rather than catching the show and missing the action on the table. I'm sure it isn't optimal, but it doesn't really hurt.

i find watchin while playin helps with any boredom that may occur while multi tablin for hours on end, i'm not sure i could play so long with out it, i usually end up missin out on some of the show i'm watchin, as the tables are always top priority.
