Hey everyone,

I've been playing 2nl all day and I just bumped into this situation. What do y'all recommend I do in this position?

The villian was a calling station fish, he was vp: 72 / pr: 7 / afq: 34

4 bet bigger pf. Call and possibly raise a club river depending on villains bet size. Raise any Q on the river. Call any river if he bets small like that again.

I don't really like this cbet here. idk villain's postflop stats, but it seems to me he's check calling a lot (afq 34) so cbetting 2/5 pot isn't gonna get a fold often. I think you should probably flat the turn to see a cheap river and you should probably play b/c if you hit the flush and reevaluate if you miss.

Ok, well I did end up calling the turn and the river was a T of spades.

Villain bet 8 cents hero??

He could have anything so just call that river.

Calls, probably loses the pot most of the time, but you're getting like 38927489327492374892374892:1 odds so call anyway.

(OK, I exaggerate, but it's roughly 15:1. Do you think your jacks might be good about 7% of the time? If so, call.)

Why min 4-bet? In this case, he's likely making this min 3-bet with a decent hand. His PFR is very low at 7%, do you know what he was 3-betting at? If it was 2% or less over a decent sample size, you're likely behind pre-flop, and after the flop you're way behind (but likely with 9 clubs and two J's as outs).

But as played, I would have 4-bet much larger to something like $0.60. If he flats and checks the flop again, put him all in. With these types of station fish with short stacks you want to play your strong PF hands fast.

I am still incredibly new to poker, oddly I have never thought of betting more than the min in a 3/4 betting situation.

I did end up calling, the villian laid down AK.
