I'd like some advice on my style of play. I have been using poker tracker trial and have the following stats;

Tournaments;
VPIP 43.94, PFR 21.68, AFq 56.80, WTSD % 52.89, WSD 59,38
Cash;
VPIP 40.10, PFR 14.30 AFq 51.24, WTSD % 28.62, WSD 54.43

i know its v simplistic is ask for advice based on these figures, but i wont be offended if the advice is v critical
Thanks

You really need to lower that VPIP for a start

Over how many hands is this over?

You need to close the gap between your VPIP and PFR. It seems like you're going into pots without taking any initiative.... Also at a guess, playing out of position too much as well. Seems like you're calling too many river raises/bets.

VPIP needs to be lower as well (as above poster said)

only 800 hands cash, and 9 tournaments. I have been raising rather than just calling, and only trying to play out of position if i have a v strong hand.

I know its a v open ended Q, but what would a good VPIP/PFR be? I'm playing low stakes, ie $10-$50 tournaments, and generally 0.50/1 NL

I seem to do better in tournaments (9 played, 4 cashes, 2 wins) and Single tables.

I suppose all of this is 6-max.

- Move down. You probably need to go through the very basic stuffs so I'd advise 2nl at the moment.
- Don't look at results yet, they aren't relevant (tiny sample size). If you really want to know, then you are very likely to be a long term loser, especially at these stakes.
- Stop calling preflop. For example, fold hands like AJo against a standard UTG open (or 3bet them but don't call).

OP, based on those stats you're a huge whale in any of the games you play at the moment. If you want to win at poker, move down. If you think you can't because the money isn't enough for you, just accept you're never going to win at online poker and set an entertainment budget. I would be very surprised if, continuing those stats, you didn't lose at something like 50bb/100 in the long run.

Edit: in terms of roughly good stats, your VPIP/PFR should look something between about 21/17 and about 35/30 at 6-max. FWIW someone who plays 35/30 is likely one of the best postflop players at their limit.

TAG at 6 max 22/18 is good try to get better playing TAG than expand your range if u find playing LAG more profitable once your post flop play improves

theres guys who play ~40vpip and win at ssnl, -50bb/100 is obv not correct, he might be a sicko post flop.

dnt try play std 2p2 stats op, theres a ton of "22/18" guys who suck.

40/14 though? I'm not saying no-one could win with those stats but I doubt it's optimal for anyone.

How often do you see a table at 25NL run with a 40/14 and 5 breakeven regs? For the regs to breakeven after rake the fish has to lose at 45bb/100.

Play far less hands in both MTTs and cash. Raise or re-raise much more often when you enter the pot. PFR should be within a few points of VPIP, not 20+.

OP really needs to tell us if he's playing full ring, 6-max, 4-max or heads up. Saying that, 40/14 is a terrible stat-line for everything except season 1 of 'High Stakes Poker', where it's close to standard.

6 ring cash 0.5/1 NL. Am finding some v tight tables on party poker, where everyone seems to have sold stats and is raising from the button or cut off and defending blinds. Find a softer game?

If you don't want to lose money, then move down. You'll get crushed at any online 100nl game anyway.

OP, you don't realise how hard 100nl games are. To be honest I don't think you will be able to beat 2nl with stats like that. You have a lot of work to do.

concepts of the week are always a great place to start.

There are a lot of books but i'm not sure what would be suitable for yourself. Post in the books and publications forum and people will be able to give you a good recommendation.

Any of the vid websites are also good but I wouldn't worry too much about that for the moment. There is plenty of info on the forums for you to work on.
