Hey im knew here, dont know where this thread should go, so sorry.
Well im only young (17) and I want to play poker.. and win. Im pretty advanced for my age, when I play my mates I win but they are poor at the game too be honest. Does anyone have any tips or advice on how to up my game at all so I can play better players and have a chance of winning. Thanks!

op, first decide what games u wanna play, cash, mtts, sng, holdem or omaha etc.
once u decide this just go to that subforum read all stickies read hands in start forums and play lots to improve.
you will probably not be as good as you think you are. Also how much are you wanting to play with to start, this is important as then people can suggest what stakes to play
welcome. do you or can you play online? what game's do you play? what game do you want to learn? full ring or 6-max? do you have any books already? when you play with your mates do you play cash games or sit-n-go's? most peeps on this site will make fun of you till you get some post on here. as they think you will not return. i would read all the beginners questions post. that should take a good winter vacation to do for a 17 yr old.
also, don't spend a ton of money on books. use the library. the price is right.

if you lose your whole first deposit, don't say everyone else sucks and they don't respect your raises. figure out what you are doing wrong and fix it.
look for deals on pokertracker or holdem manager. if you are going to be serious you need one.
