Why no buy in full?

Line is fine IMO. I'm betting the turn, we have FE and are 25% to win the hand if he calls. Obv calling river bet

Don't like betting that turn. What hands are folding after calling on that flop? Very, very, few. Plus villian's stack on the turn is approximately the size of the pot so you know that by calling the flop, he will likely go with the hand.

Check-back and get your free card. If you hit your draw on the river, shove (wont be an overshove and your "bet,check,all-in line" would look bluffy). If you miss the river, fold or call the 10c bet.

hand was played fine

edit: i think due to stack sizes i would check turn, fold equity goes way down against short stacks and when we hit, we dont get paid off that much

we picked up extra equity on the turn (with the straight outs) thats a great reason to keep on betting, in fact Id bet more on the turn. He's only got $1.90 left, pot is $1.45 - just shove.

NB: Whenever I post my thoughts on a hand, Im wrong.

I probably agree with Chad, except I'd pot the flop because he seems bad and it sets you up for a turn shove.

Spoiler:
Results: $4.85 pot ($0.22 rake)
Final Board: 4 8 J 3 9
BB showed J 7 and won $4.63 ($2.23 net)
Hero mucked A 5 and lost (-$2.40 net)

Thanks for the feedback.

So you ask yourself the question what could he be calling me with?

Consensus says to fire a second barrel. Lets pretend the stacks were bigger. Do you bet again?

Is this because he could be calling me with an eight, T9, GS, Flush draw, small pockets.

And are trying to add value to our flush draw when it hits

The bigger the stack sizes are, the more fold equity you have on the turn. I was in the "check-turn" group primarily because the stack sizes were small and you had very little fold equity against a short stack. The bigger the stacks, the more I like to barrel (because fold equity goes up - he knows that he might have to pay off the river as well). If the stacks were bigger, he might fold those combinations you describe above, but a short stack that called on the flop will almost always goes with the hand IMO.

Also, if your stack was bigger, as you said yourself, you are building up the pot for the river if you hit your flush. However, if the stacks are smaller as in your original situation, you don't need to build the pot because he probably calls the shover on the river (it is basically a pot bet). If you really want to continue barreling on the turn with the smaller stack sizes, I'd shove. Don't give him an opportunity to make a play with a mediocre drawing hand and put him to a tough decision.

BTW, what did villain have?

Maybe bet a bit more ott. Calling ott is fine (you have odds). River sucks but the bet is so small you have to call.

Buy in for full! At least top off when you hit 60bb
