Hey guys I'm just wondering if there is an easy way of explaining this to me...I've watched and read some stuff on it but I don't know why I can't seem to bury it...so my question is, does thin/thinness have to do with the money/bet/pot stuff or are the cards and other things involved? I mostly think it's about the bet but not sure where and what they mean by it...it's kinda frustrating...appreciate some feed back thanks in advance.

Thin, Thinness?

I assume you're talking about thin value-betting. Basically, the fewer the hands in our opponent's range that will call that we beat, the thinner the bet is. For instance, if we bet AK on an A7685 board, that would be a very thin value bet, because we're looking to get called by AQ or maybe AJ, and that's pretty much it. If we get called by anything else, we probably lose. Another example would be TT on a KK445 board. If we bet it's in the hope we'll get called by Ace-high (or a smaller pair).

Look at the opposite case - Fat Value.

When you bet the river with the nuts, you win 100% of the time you get called.

That's fat value.

Thin value might be, you have a mediocre hand that will win 52% of the time you're called. That's still +EV over the long run, but by a thin margin.

Thin basically means, that in the long term its only just a bit +EV or just +-0EV, wheter it's used in context with valuebetting, bluffing or showdownvalue.
