Yes it does happen, and not very often. Keep pushing your KK pre flop. If you start worrying that you are holding "Ace magnets" or that he will suck out on you and you start playing too weak with your big hands, you will lose much more over time in lost value then you ever will with the very occasional situation you describe in your OP Good luck!

Thanks. Feels like this happens a lot but when I look at my records so far its only 3:1 against me in 6000 hands. A couple are surely coming my way. Although that said AA held up in all 4 of those so also due a pair getting cracked! Please don't be mine!

    Peace

You posted no reads, stats, info, etc. on your opponent. Vs an unknown opponent you of course never fold. However, your 4bet is way too big. Around $3.20 would be fine.

Vs a known villain he would have to be ridiculously extremely tight over an extremely large sample to not call and if that were the case, then you should not have 4bet.

For all practical purposes this is always a call and the whole hand is well played except for the 4bet sizing.

Villain was 29/22 VPIP/PFR. I'd only got 25 hands on him. So basically no reads. He'd not done any 3 or 4 betting in that time though and I was playing 20/15 ish like normal. As I pressed call I was kind of expecting to see AA but was hoping I was wrong. I know the advice is to push KK unless you are sure but at NL10 the only time anyone ever seems to go all in preflop is AA or KK so unless you have AA its a bad call. Odd though that people are that tight preflop when I have seen some crazy all ins on Flop, Turn and River which is where I make back all the blinds I lose and preflop busts like that. Maybe just me misjudging as I'm only a breakeven player so far but seems that way. Getting to the point that I don't want to play KK or AK! (AA still not letting me down that much).

    4 bet sizing is horrible.

    Buy in full.

Not sold on the 4bb open - I doubt you balance it. Minor issue at the micros, but you should be aware of the possible issues you will face at stakes like 50NL in the very near future.

    ---------

Folding to villians 5b would be lol bad. Especially after you make it 50bb. (fwiw, the standard sizing is 20-25bb)

    ^^+1
to be fair though he cant 4bet to 25bb since he 4xed and vil 3bet 3.5x. but 50bb is far far to much. I would raise to 28 or 29bb

OK so general view is that fold would be a bad move. But then also that 4bet size was too big. What does that matter if you are not going to fold?

if you 4bet too big, you make some worse hands fold that would have called otherwise.

^^ Not necessarily call but worse hands wont raise. When we raise that size we tell everyone we aren't folding. If we aren't folding who is going to bluff us?

OK so if its going to be that big it might as well be all in and hope it looks like a panic overbet to defend a cack bluff.

Fair point I'll try and rein it back in. Its borne really out of getting cracked too many times so I want to end it early.

exactly, 4bet shipping can look a lot like AK(or spew) so you might get looked up by QQ or JJ more often, if they do 3bet them hands. But to be honest I would just stick to 4betting to 22-25BB and calling off shoves.

27bb is the largest 4bet you can make if you intend to fold to a 5bet.
