Much of what you can learn at play-money tables cannot be applied to real-money games.
Several sites offer 1c/2c games where a full stack costs as little as $2. Even though you're playing for pennies, it makes a difference psychologically. People's attitudes towards the game are markedly different.
Lastly, let's not forget that as soon as you move beyond 1c/2c (or maybe beyond 2c/5c), you're gonna have some players from developing countries to whom the money at stake is non-trivial.
Unless you're a minor not allowed to gamble, I strongly recommend you make a real-money deposit.
And if you feel you can't make decisions fast enough for a play-money table, maybe that's an indication you should study more. Read a poker book. Watch free training videos on YT. Enable the saving of hand histories in your poker client and analyze hands afterwards.
