Depends.

Full ring is less aggressive, but slower. Full ring is nittier, and you need better hands on average to win at showdown. The blinds come around slower, so you don't need to win as often to stay ahead.

6max is more aggressive, and relative hand values increase - you can play a wider range of hands pre and accordingly the average winning hand is weaker. The blinds come around faster, so you need to steal a lot more to stay profitable.

What you choose depends on your preference. 6max is said to be fishier, as fish like a faster game, but on the other hand you'll need to get your postflop skills up to speed quicker because you'll be in many more marginal situations. This isn't something to shy away from as a beginner, but something to be aware of.

It shouldn't be that hard to transition later on, by then you'll be good enough to understand the adjustments required...

maybe for a complete beginner, full ring should be easier. this is just my opinion, but due to the smaller frequency of marginal and less standard decision making, you can almost learn to play by a set method. so basically what im trying to say is, if you learn the standard decisions in full ring you should be ok.

play 6max imo you'll develop more as a player even if you lose a little in the begining. Its not hard to beat at the micros

I think it's difficult for players that have only played one to transition to the other after having played for a few levels. It's probably easier to transition from 6-max to full ring if you overly tighten up both preflop and postflop and gradually reloosen until you figure out the balance. It seems full ring players tend to have a lot of difficulty adjusting to the style differences in 6-max.

^^ depending on what their style was in full ring, some people are loose aggressive and they adapt well to 6max
