I'm currently going through Balugawhale's ebook and confused about the following passage:

'Stack sizes. If there are a number of shortstacked player at your table, hands like 33 and 67s go down in value as they lose implied odds (they go up in value if there are deepstacked players at the table). On the flip side, hands like KJ and AT increase in value with shorter stacks because they lose reverse implied odds, but decrease in value with deeper stacks.'

I'm confused about the whole passage:
- Why do hands like 33 & 67s go down in value and lose implied odds vs shortstackers. But go up in value vs deepstackers?
- Why do hands like KJ and AT increase in value vs shortstackers. But lose reverse implied odds and decrease in value vs deepstackers?

assuming that you are trying to make a monster hand with a small pair or suited connector and go for big value- the value isn't there if you only stand to win 20 big blinds from a shortstack.. for the same reason they go up in value with deepstacks.

for example, assume you are playing $1/2,
EP open raises to $6 with AA
it folds to you in the BB and you call $4 with 33.

the flop comes J83r. would you rather your effective stacks be $40 or $400? when do you get better value for your $4 call preflop?

say you are flat AT pf oop deepstacked. the board runs out A3388 and you keep checking and the villain keeps betting, shoving the river. is this hand easier to play shortstacked? instead of facing a 75bb bet on the river, you would have been all in on the turn for a small pot with a strong hand (for that size pot). your hand isnt as strong when playing a 225bb pot

Because 33 vs a short stack is always 50/50 at best, but deep the implied odds of hitting a set are emence. Also AT will dominate alot of short stacks hands that your all in with aswell as be flipping vs pps. But AT deep can lose a huge pot vs the 33 set mining or to a better kicker.

Vs a short stack your going to be willing to stack off qj kj AT Aj etc... when you flop top pair but in a deep stacked game they have bad reverse implied odds.
