Like 6 players left at a 25k sng with pocket nines. Like 3 players limp and 2 fold before me, should I just check like normal or perform the unthinkable, raise my own big blind?

i didnt know it was unthinkable to raise from the bb in the 25k games. move up to where they respect your raises, dude.

i would check with 9s though.

Yeah when I lose money and am forced to stoop that low I hate it because I have to play with the maniacs. I mean like once I shoved on the big blind at a full ring with JJ and a few maniacs called with crap like A3, 44 and T8s. The flop was Q74 and I never saw that table again. Never doing that again.

Blinds were still $20-40, they would raise to $30-60 and so on every 5 minutes.

25k SNG = $25k+1k (rake) to enter the Sit 'N Go (full ring elimination table). 3rd place takes 15%, 2nd place 25% and first place 60%.

OP, this is an interesting enough spot that it deserves to be posted correctly. If you post it correctly they will come.

You have omitted important information, making meaningful responses nearly impossible.

* If you are able, you should first convert and then post the hand. If you do not have the hand history and can't get it to convert it, then type it out the hard way.
* tell us what the blind sizes are and the stacks of each active villain. Yes, it does matter.
* Stats, notes, and reads on opponents still active in the hand (from those we attempt to range the villains and decide whether we want to set mine here or try to get HU with one of them.

Since so much information is missing, no one can give you much help here.

This months digest had an elementary article on how to post hands for best response. To read it, click the link to the Digest and scroll down to Article. Link to November 2011 BQ Digest

Please, help yourself and help the forum develop more and better strat discussion by posting your hands optimally.

Nothing too wrong with shoving here - sounds like you'll either increase your stack by almost 20% if everyone folds, or end up all in against worse, which isn't bad at all. You could also check and set-mine, but 4-handed you aren't likely to win unless you see a 9 on the table. I don't like raising 3 bb or something here, because no one is going to fold, and you're just sweetening a pot you aren't going to be that much more likely to win than anyone else. Because you're out of position, you're also pretty much committing yourself to c-betting in a spot where you won't have any idea if you're ahead unless you hit a set. So raising 3 bb potentially costs you 10 bb or so - your raise and your continuation bet. That's almost half your stack. In position, a preflop raise is much better.

If there was a raise size that might thin the field but still leave you with room to play postflop, you could go for that, but it doesn't sound like that kind of raise size exists at your game unless you shove.

Check and set-mine. On Zynga, they'll call if you shove in a $10 million sitngo.

i never played much sng but isnt a call what we want against these players? We crush like all of their range. Hell it's Zynga you could probably jam 300BB there with 99 and still get called by worse.

I used to play a lot of Zynga sitngos. It was pretty easy to win the $1 million games. I used to "cash" about 90% of the time, just by playing tighter than everyone else. I used to do pretty well in their weekly tourney with half a million entrants too. It was nice to have a chipstack of 20 million (after buying in for 1100) at the end of the week and know you'd outlasted 499,999 fish.
Moving to real money was an eye-opening experience. On Zynga I was absolutely crushing while playing something like a 30/5/1 style. Playing that loosely and passively even on an 888 2NL table would soon lead to Bustoland.

I remember that move from play money to cash...OK, so you don't win at 120bb/100 anymore
