split pot games and rake?? split pot games and rake??

was wondering something. not sure if i've read this or if i thought of it myself (definitely not a new idea or anything).

anyway, if you're playing omaha8 six-handed with a healthy rake, lets say against fairly good players.... is the rake not absolutely prohibitive as you're paying alot of rake and many (most?) hands end up split with most of the money going back to the people who put the money into the pot i.e. you're paying rake to get your money back.

or is that not really true? i guess when you bring terrible opponents into the equation you get more dead money in the pot.

anyway, thanks in advance for any thoughts on this!

How much of the rake are you paying, when you win half of the pot?

good question. don't u just assume half? anyway, i was thinking it's all of rake when both players can just basically be getting their money back on a reasonable sized pot... EDIT: i guess now that i think about it, no one is really paying the rake. not really sure though. ok, that was a pretty poor edit LOL

reminds me of something that drives me up the wall..... does the winner or loser pay the vig on a sports bet? i've seen it debated endlessly, but i'm not sure there's an answer

They both do- the winner, who collects less... and the loser, who has to lay odds with every bet
