Should I take a shot? Should I take a shot?

I've recently started playing these weekly live tournaments, they're €10, once a week with 40-70 players.

I've only played in a few so far.
1st time: 12/43
2nd time: 5/66
3rd time: 45/91
4rd time: 27/65

I'm basically playing them to practice and because it's impossible to lose a lot of money in them, since it's €10 once a week. (I do have a job.)

Now my questions:
- They also run €20 events every week on another day, should I join these too? I can definetly afford it, but it's become quite a lot of money for me if I play both every week. Affordable, but seems like a lot.
- They're holding a one time (yearly or something) big event with €75 buy-in, again same reasoning as above, should I participate?

Do you have a bankroll? If you don't have a bankroll, I advise to invest some money use that as your bankroll. Maybe like 300 Euros (dunno how to do euro sign on keyboard)

Continue to play the 10 games then when you get to like 500, take a shot at the 20, I definitely don't advise jumping into the 75 game though.

I sorta have a bankroll, currently it's 200 (just for live) but I'm adding 50-150 to it every month.

The 75 is just a one time event (with a huge prizepool) so it's tempting to take a shot at it, but feels too much like gambling, although it wouldn't hurt me financially at all

Ok, well that's not too bad, how much are you going to get to before you stop investing in it?

I honestly wouldn't bother with that event, as you stated it feels too much like gambling and you will more than likely play sub optimal due to the amount invested!

Think about this for a second, you haven't exactly killed the lowest buy in tournies and without any remotely decent results already feel it's time to play higher tournies. Bink one then move up.

playing twice a week will improve my game a lot faster though
and like I said, the money isn't a problem, it just seems like a lot

I think my results so far (though only 4 tourneys) arn't bad at all, I'm even making a small profit so far

also it's not like the €20 tourneys will be much (if any) harder than the €10 ones
they're on saturdays, so they might even be easier than the €10's on wednesday evenings

Depends why you're playing the event. If you want to play it because you think you'll enjoy it and have a good time and the overall profitability of the event isn't as important then I say play it and have a good time. Not everything in life has to be a +ev decision or else no-one would have any fun.

Examine your motives and act accordingly.

You should definitely take a shot. You aren't going to be able to grind $10 tournies, just not possible. Play as much as possible and move up when you can for these types of tournies.

I've decided I'm going to play both the €10's & €20's since my bankroll can easily handle them even if I'm not a winning player (but I am! :P)

what about the €75 tourny though, it's gonne be harder too and it's quite a lot of money, just a one time event though, kinda sad not to join it

Then play it, consider it a treat. I mean I'm sure you regularly spend more on a night out where the only possibly semblance of +ev is a bit of tail. Play it and have fun and consider anything you learn from it as a nice bonus.
