Sorry if this is in the wrong place, no idea where to post this

I'm setting up a team game in my local area (8 teams of 4, 1 person on each team on all 4 tables) and need a bit of help working out what the best point system would be for 1st-8th

Thinking something like this

1st - 10
2nd - 7
3rd - 6
4th - 5
5th - 4
6th - 3
7th - 2
8th - 1

Not sure if that is fair or not though, 1st getting 3 more points than 2nd?

It's nothing serious, just a friendly pub game £10 each so the scoring system doesn't have to be perfect but want to make sure it's fair

Any system would be fair as long as the points awarded are equal to or less than the spots higher up. You could make it winner take all, 7 spots paid equal, etc.

As you've made it, why award 8th one point? If you get 1 point for busting right away, that's the same as 0 points because everyone gets it regardless.

How can you come in 8th if there's only 4 people per table?

Also last place should get no points **** em

There's 4 tables of 8 players, 1 player from each team on every table

8 teams of 4 players = 32 players total

I'd suggest generating some random results, deciding who you think "should" win, and adjusting your points accordingly.

eg. Team A goes 1st, 6th, 7th, 8th. Team B goes 2nd, 3rd, 8th, 8th. Team C goes 3rd, 4th, 5th, 7th. How would you rank these teams? There's no wrong answer.
