Ruling question. Who would win the pot if the villian said he had a flush when he didn't? Ruling question. Who would win the pot if the villian said he had a flush when he didn't?

so lets say you are playing a game of 1/2 nl holdem and you get into a big pot with some other villain. it gets all the way down to the river, where the third club falls. of course you only have AK suited in spades, which you know,no flush. however you go all in hoping villian will think you have a flush and fold. he makes a crying call and asks "do you have the flush?" you know you don't have the flush but you say, ya, anyway. villian gets mad abd throws his hand in the muck. now the dealer requests that you show your hand, and you flip up a pair of kings, but you still win the pot, right?

Deliberately misrepresenting your hand at showdown might get your hand killed and the pot awarded to the other player.

Yeah but "might" based on what? Seems like they should always let it go or always rule that the handless guy should get the pot

There aren't many situations in live poker that are "always" ruled the same way. House rules vary, floors vary.

TDA rules state the following:

Quote:
12: Declarations. Cards Speak at Showdown

Cards speak to determine the winner. Verbal declarations of hand value are not binding at showdown but deliberately miscalling a hand may be penalized. Dealers should read and announce hand values at showdown. Any player, in the hand or not, should speak up if he or she thinks a mistake is made in reading hands or calculating and awarding the pot.

House rules prevail. While many places may not kill your hand, they may allow villain to retrieve the hand from the muck.

Better answer would've been "Maybe, do you?" Best answer would be either "show your hand and find out" or silence.

Of course at any point, the dealer should tell you to show first since you were called.

I would not recommend this type of action. Many, if not most, rooms will kill your hand and give the pot to villain in this situation. Just show your hand. You got called. If he has a better hand, you don’t deserve to win anyway. Trying to win a pot this way is illegal in most rooms and is a scummy angle even if it is allowed by house rules.

My question is why have you asked this same question 3 times over the last few years? The answer is always the same. You might be awarded the pot, you might not. You likely will get a temp ban from the room or a forever ban.

flushDance, read what a green mod's "boss" said about the last time you asked this question.

"- stop creating troll threads in BQ."

And then he closed the thread.

I am going to close this thread for the same reason.
