Hey I had a question about a rule for cash games. Lets say a player is playing at a 1$/2$ cash game with a 50$ min and 200$ max. The player buys in for 50$ and loses 30$ on the first hand, can he add on for less than the minimum (say 10$ or 20$) or does any addon have to be atleast to the minimum buyin which would be 30$ in this case.

But I've never seen an add-on turned down. The table stakes are generally reserved for new or felted players.

Some rooms allow one short BI per player 'between' 2 full BIs. So a player could BI for $40 once, after busting twice but is forced to BI at table stakes the next 2 times.

I haven't seen that is quite a while, but I've seen where a table vote allowed a player to BI short if they really thought it was the guys 'last' BI of the day and he busted 2-3 times already. GL

Where I play yes. Only applicable rule is dealers will not accept $1 bills. You have to gave some chips left though. If you bust, you have to rebuy for the min ($50)

Ive probably seen this happen once or twice in hundreds of hours.

Where I play you must add-on to the table minimum. You can short buy for half the table minimum if you are felted.

most places will allow any add-on as long as you still have part of your original BI on the table. If you've felted then usually most places require a fill min BI to start up again.
