Question about playing your "A" game Question about playing your "A" game

So I had an off day today and it got me thinking. I was waiting around and just getting bad cards and then when I got something, I wasn't really connecting; and I know at the micros not to bluff with air cause you'll get called down and all...so is this off my A game?

I mean are there any remedies when one isn't "hitting the board" or should I just tell myself its all variance and just walk away for a little while?

You can not be getting any cards and still be playing your A game by folding and not bluffing calling stations. Playing your A game can be losing the minimum rather than winning the maximum. And you can bluff in the micros. A lot of the players will only call a continuation bet if they hit the flop or only 4-bet with KK+. Just don't double or triple barrell bluff or double check raise bluff or any fancy bluff that requires a thinking opponent.

When I'm having nights like that, I usually quit for the nite. I can tell I'm not playing right and everything is just off. I'll usually spend some time reading up on poker strategy, cruise the forums, or look thru hand analysis and pick back up the next day. Sometimes, though, I just push thru to the next trny (I llike 9man SNGs), things pick up, and I take one down........and just keep going.....

playing your A game= playing your best and constantly looking to improve simultaneously at all times.... if being card dead or spot dead or being up or down affects your play then you need to work on fixing that cause its terri bad for poker

Pretty much this! Being card dead should have nothing to do with playing your A game.
