pokerstrategy.com - free monies? pokerstrategy.com - free monies?

found that site on the internet(i'm not advertising it) and they say they give away money if you pass the test. i didnt have an account on FTP so why not? it's about short-stack strategy, which i never used and probably wont use but they have all the answers in a separate .pdf file so obivously i passed the test and now they're "sending me money". so what's the catch? free money=scam..no?

they are affiliate site, poker sites will send some of your rake to them in a life time, so they can easily make that $100 or $150 back when you start winning....

You can't.

wait so whats the catch?

They take your rakeback is the catch, but they teach you how to play, sorta.

you basically can't withdraw until u raked a certain number of hands..

Ro, is it kinda like a loan? They "give" you money, but it all gets taken back via rakeback?

Yes; I believe they are essentially investing in you and staking in you + giving you some forms of coaching. They try to make money, but I do not think that it is shady, per se.
02-14-2009 , 12:50 PM
Nothing shady about instant BR deals. I've done one on pokersource before and had no problems cashing out after clearing it. Pokersite wins because they get a new player to rake cash from, affiliate wins because they get their cut too, and you win because u get free money. I think these are great deals for beginning players as you risk no money yourself and learn how to grind in the process.

its legit. . they get the money the same way rake sites pay you rake..

I got 50 dollars on FTP.. but rake on FTP is brutal.. also the information on that site is pretty vague, and mechanical.. I'd sign up for the money, and read books/forums/training sites to increase the money
02-14-2009 , 05:50 PM
You are much better off signing up for rakeback unless you really need the free money right now, as opposed to 2-3 months from now when you can make it through rakeback.

That's collusion and is against rules.

02-15-2009 , 07:46 PM

Thats not true - as far as I'm informed, you get the maximum rakeback on all sites even though youre tracked on PokerStrategy.

At least on Full Tilt, Mansion etc. it is for me.

And yes, its a legit offer - by far the best of the free bankroll offers, as they also have a competitive package of other advantges.

Somehow they are getting their money back. No one can give away money without expecting to profit from it in some fashion. It seems highly risky to 'stake' a player without some plan for getting the money back.

What makes this site think you or I would play prudently with free money?

What is the catch?
