trying to take my game a bit more seriously i signed up with pokerstars.

they let me sign up. deposit 600 dollers. then freeze my account

another person in my household has an account and there trying to say I could be them.

anyway. ill send my bank statements etc they'd want to be quick about it i only wanted to play that mini series atm on pokerstars and i have 1 week of work !

the question is though. how can they let me deposit 600 dollers. then 2 minutes later freeze my account?. why not freeze it before i deposit. is this hole industry full of scams?

Nothing wrong with someone else in your house hold having an account and playing play money on there. But as soon as someone in the same household adds money to there acc they will freeze it.

for a few reasons 1 is that yes you could of made multiple accounts and 2 you could easily collude with the other person in your household.

If they dont unlock it for you then id suggest sending them an e-mail asking them to redeposit your funds to the card used when you deposited the funds and ask them to close the account.

OP, this is kind of standard. Until you deposit money stars doesn't know you intend to play real money games. When that happens I'm guessing that further checks are done and a flag was raised on your account.

Send them the information they are asking for.

The chance that stars are trying to scam you out of $600 is zero here.

This happened to my father and I one month prior to BF when we deposited on Stars. We sent in our documents that were requested and they unlocked our accounts upon informing us never to sit at the same table or even buy-in to the same tournament or our accounts could be facing permanent bans. Just keep that in mind.

For us it was just a couple of days to get it all sorted.

Maybe I missed it but I thought we were just advised that the account was unlocked and everything was fine.

I assumed that the software would prevent us from sitting at the same table anyway. But I also assumed that if we entered some big tournament it wouldn't be an issue and we did both enter a big micro millions event the other day, never encountering each other. But perhaps we're best to avoid the same tournament as I wouldn't want o risk a permanent ban.

Reading this I just realized that I may have a problem.

Situation is this...

My GF and I have PS accounts for about two years now ( each in our separate households at first) but we started living together 6 months ago and now we share a wireless connection and obviously have two accounts in a same household.

Of course we have never played in the same tourney or set at the same table as we don't even play same stakes but could this ever be an issue?

I would email support about it now, so that if you need to have your accounts re-verified, you can do it quickly.

My understanding is that you cannot sit at the same cash table, except HU. You can play in large field tournaments, there is a cut-off at 180 man SNGs iirc - I think you can play these but no smaller fields.

As always with these things though, don't take my word (or anyone else's), ask stars support then follow what they say and you won't have a problem.

Stars are very active in detecting and preventing cheating, and seem way ahead of other sites in the amount of effort they dedicate to that (same with their player support), which is something I appreciate and find very reassuring.

But they obviously don't want to prevent people from playing honestly, as that would cost them revenue. It makes no sense for them to pick on people randomly, or for fun. And their operating licence requires them to keep player funds in separate accounts, so they cannot benefit from seizing player money.

So to echo what has already been said - if they ask for clarification on IP sharing accounts, or on the way hands were played, just realise they are doing a great job actively looking for ways people can cheat and making enquiries when certain patterns show up. They're not accusing you of anything. Just give them the information they want and everything will be fine (unless you are cheating, of course).

Security checks takes time (and thus money) - Once they know you intend to pay rake, they will under go extensive scurity checks on your account.

As a result of the other users account, you have been flagged and blocked.

Ive been on Party poker that happily allowed me to deposit and play poker but once I decided to rage quit from the site, my account was blocked pending security checks (I had to send my ID) - something you have to get used to (as long as the company you are dealing with give a sh*t about customer care, just go with it) as it protects every other player. Even though you dont know it, these checks will prevent a good number of people who intend to screw legit players out of money each day - and thats not a bad thing!!!

Anyway, you have picked a good site to get frozen from - stars customer care are good!
