what is a 'blocker'?

Doc Sands used the term in the 2011 WSOP ME.

He said that the guy had two pair and a blocker, not two pair and a flush draw.

Can anyone explain?

I'm not an expert, so someone else can expand on this, but my understanding is that a "blocker" is a card in your hand that would help your opponents hand. So if the flop is 7hJh2c, you hold QhQc, and you're opponent has a heart flush drash, your Qh is a blocker related to him hitting a flush.

Or if you hold 88 vs your opponent's 67 on a K45 board your two 8's are blockers to his straight, taking his outs down from 8 to only 6.

Scott has it right. If you have a blocker to a straight or a flush, it reduces the number of outs that an opponent has.
If you have Ah Qc, flop is Ac Qh 9c, and villain has 7c 6c for a flush draw, there are only 8 clubs left in the deck (not 9) because you have the Qc as a blocker.

okay. thank you, the both of you. clears it up a bit.

i also have another question as to mucking after showdown. let's say the bettor 3 barrels and gets called by a single oppponent. once the bettor mucks after being called, can the caller muck and still take down the pot since the bettor doesn't want to give away any information, can the caller do the same?

Yeah. Once the bettor mucks his cards, the other player drags the pot and doesn't have to show his.

You don't have to show, but *always* trade the cards for the pot. Never release your cards until the pot has been pushed to you (even with a hand you table).

Just keep in mind though that you went to showdown. Therefore, any player can (although generally considered bad etiquette) invoke IWTSYH (I want to see your hand) and the dealer will flip your hand over.
