Hey guys,
I've been grinding cash games on pokerstars for the last couple of months, but I'd like to play some more mtt's, as I enjoy them more.
Anyway, if you play an mtt on pokerstars youll usually get tournaments with a field of a few thousands... Which makes te variance huge right?
So would a smaller site with smaller fields (below 2000, the smaller the better right?) decrease variance? If so, what site would you suggest to play mtt's?
thx in advantage!

If you want to reduce varience in MTTs, play some CAP tourneys or some 180 man SNGs

Stay at Stars they have the most tourneys running

Yeah but I was more thinking of the guarantees? Plus that the 180sng are reg-infested as far as I heared.

Play caps, sure. They're not bad.
Screw the 180s for the most part. Lot of work for little reward.

888 is my favorite other than Stars. Maybe overall. The huge fields are great/suck.
They just got some award for 2012 too. Good site. Played there earlier today.

It doesn't say low variance.. it says reduced variance.

Full tilt 90 man deep stack turbos = much much less variance than stars 180s

Also smaller fields means smaller guarantees and smaller prize money.

Do you want to play MTT to just finish ITM or to get to the final table and win some of them?

Flawed logic imo, if your grinding them it doesnt matter, the rake on tourneys will be same (unless turbo or hyper) so same prize pool percentage. The large guarentees are top heavy, so more varience. He was asking what would reduce varience. I do however agree half the fun is the chance of "binking" a large guarentee tourney like the Storm or Sunday Million..

Thanks guys, I'll just stick to Pokerstars for the moment,
Altho my BR is only 150$ and the (non-turbo) mtts of 180 players start at 4.50$.. should I stick with the 90's atm?

There are also $2.50's, but they are turbo. If you want to build your BR without a big risk you could try 18/27 mans.

I think you should start with the $.50-$1 45-90 man turbos and grind them for a while until you are rolled for $2.50 180 man's.

I recently started playing the 180's as well. From what I've read, turbos seem to be where it's at, so I think you should start getting used to the format rather now than later.

why does not this surprise me...

888poker is pretty good for MTT's. Not as many players, a bit bigger buy-ins to GTD MTTs but players are really fishy.
