How in tarnation am I supposed to play out of the blinds? I think I'm playing too tight...

If the stacks are >40 BB, should I be calling a min raise with any two? These are low stakes, so I don't need to be playing junk to widen my table images range, but if I do hit something I can expect to win a sizable pot.

What about completing from the SB? How big does my stack need to be before I can complete from the SB with any two cards? I'm OOP for the hand, but for 1/2 BB I can (often) see a flop and C/F when I miss.

And I wonder the same questions about hands that I normally don't play but are better than 'any two'. For a min-raise can I play hands like one/two gapped suited connectors or medium/high connectors?

These are tough spots where I don't think I'm losing a lot of value by folding, but perhaps I should be gambling it up more and playing passively to see a cheap flop?

Thanks guys!

play like a nit from the blinds. its the worst position at the table. why would u want to put money in the pot when u have terrible position?

the more u get hung up on "well im getting 2:1 pot odds preflop i should call" the more mistakes u make - most of the money in nlhe goes in on flop, turn and river. so u want to think about how various hands play when u get to the later streets. if you are playing a lot of hands oop, u will most be check-calling without really knowing where you are. or check-raising to 'find out where you're at' then getting owned because u have put tons of money in the pot and are basically pot committed.

The blinds have a negative expectation, you will lose money from them long term. Playing extra tight is right. And don't be tempted to complete to see flops. If you want to start playing more from the blinds, my advice would be 3-bet more to defend your BB to steals.

when i was learning, i watched a couple videos from 2-10nl and everyone basically said that not to complete anything out of the SB unless its a suited Ace.

That really still imo is good advice.

The worst hand I have is AT from the blinds. I did some stat reviews and found out that when I play AT from the blinds I am a big loser. I mean what do you do when the flop is 269 and you called pre? Your options are all bad. Donk? C/f? C/c? C/r? OOP with an unimproved hand sucks to have to play. It hurts to see the results and it hurts my head to try and do it so either 3b or fold.

Also, change this if you are in a bvb situation. You can call from the bb when the sb is open raising.

Very helpful. And nice to see a unanimous opinion...

My HEM tells me I'm losing out of the blinds, and I most certainly play like a nit. So perhaps I'm doing alright here.

Thanks guys, appreciate it.

if u folded every hand from the blinds ud be losing at a rate of 50bb/100 from the sb and 100bb/100 from the bb assuming there was always action on your blinds. so any improvement on this is good. its also impossible to show profit from the blinds just because of the amount ur losing before the action.
