When i play these live turbo mtt's I'm playing to finish first. I got the most wins in them last year finishing first 1/3 of the tournaments I played.
Profit isn't my main goal in playing these. Finishing first is.

would learning about ICM help? im not wanting to just min cash finishing 3rd.

ICM would be great if you are wanting to maximize your earnings. For your stated goal of wanting to only finish first, ICM would be irrelevant.

Also, if you are placing 1st 1/3 of the time (which is a very unusually high win rate for live turbo MTT's. Almost unbelievably high) why would you want to change anything? Depending on the size of the field, you are looking at an ROI of anywhere from 50% to 850%. This would typically be considered an adequately good result.

If you don't know ICM, then you don't really know how your opponenets should play, which is something that presumably may help you.

Sample size? 33% 1st would be great even if by mtt you mean 2 heads up tables.
