I've been closely monitoring and analysing my hands and plays in MTT and STT and since then I've been improving alot, but still have some "leaks"

I've been able to tell when I have KK, QQ, JJ and I'm facing a overpair. I've noted them down and in 8/10 I was correct. (roughly)
But the problem is that I still call. Very occasionally I will fold them, but thats very occasionally.

Most often its me 3betting and I'm facing a 4bet or its me opening and facing a 3bet.
The 2 latest I can remember out of my head were AKs versus AA or KK with 3 man left in an STT, I was on the button and opened, he 4betted me. I knew he must have AA or KK, but my thought process was, well 1/4 he will have AK or maybe TT and lower, and then it will be a split / race. But I just knew he had me, but I still shoved and he called with AA

I had QQ in the 4.40 progressive with 4.7K at 25/50 and 3betted the cutoff, he just shoved on me. Yet again I had the feeling my QQ where no good, but still called (which was a bad play, I know), with him showing KK

But then again, yesterday in the 4.40 I had JJ, and 3betted a small stack (I was middle position) and the BB shoved on me (we both had around 60 BB with blinds of 100/200 ish) I was thinking that I should not risk 60 BB with JJ and could better fold it. But then I was thinking why he would shove with anything better than AK. I had a mixed feeling and not sure he would have QQ - AA, which I DID had with my previous example and called. Villain who shoved me turned TT and I won a 145BB-ish pot.

I think I want to know if I was correct IF I folded and therefor shove / call and lose (or suckout). Should I just put this behind me and dont worry IF I was correct or not and just fold ?

On a sidenote, I have a **** ton of hands I want to post, should I group them or post them individual ?

You need to put people on ranges and see if you have enough equity to call. If you don't then you need to fold. You can't put people on an exact hand.

Being a cash game player I can't really offer you anything STT-wise but I will say post the hands individually rather than grouped. Grouped hands make for frowny posters.

You need to put your opponent on a range of hands based on image, position, stack size, and how the hand plays out. Over time it'll become second nature to you and you'll save yourself a lot of chips/money by learning to fold in the right spots.

So if you have a range of AK to QQ+ and holding JJ facing an allin, you should fold ?

JJ has 36.19% equity against QQ+, AK. If you need more equity than this for a +EV call then fold, if you need that much equity or less then fold.

If this makes no sense go look up pot odds.

Also ICM may affect STT decisions.

+1

Don't post STT hands in the BQ forum...not so many (good) BQ posters playing STT. Post STT hands in the STT forum.

You can't say your reads are good if you're putting them on overpairs but still calling.

That's the whole idea of the read. By calling you had the wrong read.

You can't have it both ways.
