The limper is a loose passive 46/2/3 over 99 hands, so I reckoned I could steal from him either pre or on the flop. The BB is 9.1/0/0 over 22 hands and this is the first time I've seen him 3-bet. Seeing as he's pretty much an unknown I'm not going to assume he's 3-betting any wider than QQ+, AKo, AKs so I call as I'm IP and for IO seeing as we're pretty deep stacked. I hit a pretty decent flop but end up having to fold to a 3/4 pot bet which leaves me needing equity of 42.59%.
I've since stoved it and against that range I have 41.72% equity so its a good fold. I'm glad I
did stove it as I was kicking myself a bit after the hand. BUT, and here's the main point of this post, this is why we should be using Poker Stove when we review our play. I now know that a pair and a gut-shot aren't enough to be continuing in this situation, but if I have a pair and an OESD, or a big combo draw like OESD+FD then I need to call. OR, if it had been a 1/2 pot sized bet that would leave me needing around 34.04% equity to make the call, which I had in this case.
