Hey guys, new to online poker. I read the thread on "what does xx/yy/zz mean?"
My question is now, how do I obtain this info? Is there some software I need to download?

Hold'em Manager (HEM) and Pokertracker3 (PT3) are two popular choices for tracking software that includes a HUD. They both offer a free trial before you would need to decide if you want to purchase either.

Hi,

Lately I find that I am getting 3-bet everytime I open with an average hand (AJ, KQ etc). And nearly everytime I open with a really good hand (QQ+) everyone folds, even though I always open to the same amount. Is it possible I have a timing tell that people have picked up on, or could this just be bad luck?
Also is 4-betting light necessary, or even profitable, at 25nl?
thanks

Memory & selection bias? Maybe the times they fold when you've got AJ or KQ don't stick in your mind. (The times they call your AA raise pf and stack you when they turn their gutshot will stick in your memory, not to worry.)

Hi,

Sorry I have another really stupid question, but I am a bit confused by betting in certain situations. I'm always told on here that I am never betting enough with my big hands on the flop and turn, I need to be almost betting full pot on every board to shove on a later street. But I don't understand why someone would want to call the full pot-bet unless they alreadly have me beat ie set, two pair etc.

I played this hand below. If I bet this size as I am supposed to do, and you may even think the size is still too small, am I not discouraging Ax hands from peeling a street. Sometimes they will hit the Ace on the turn and I will need to fold, but in the long term wouldnt I make more money from people who draw at the wrong price (and sometimes suck out) than those who just fold? I don't know.

Party Poker $25 No Limit Hold'em - 5 players - View hand 626876

UTG: $25.00
CO: $42.14
BTN: $25.00
SB: $13.12

Pre Flop: ($0.35) Hero is BB with K K
2 folds, BTN raises to $1, SB raises to $1.75, Hero raises to $3.50, 1 fold, SB calls $1.75

Flop: ($8.00) 9 4 2 (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $6.50, SB folds

raise to $6 preflop.
As played, $6.5 on flop is correct.

I can't give a formula for the exact correct bet size every time. But consider the situation you're in here. It is unlikely that your opponent has any good reason to continue here. If you bet smaller, he's probably going to fold anyway if he's got nothing. You don't want to give a free or very cheap card in the case the opponent has cause to continue. But sometimes you've got a strong hand, your opponent has nothing, and you just have to be content with whatever little pot you get... because that's almost certainly the most you could get in any case.

Depending on opponent, you can sometimes get sneaky if you can encourage a bluff, but that's a dangerous play in many cases.

Meanwhile, you're opponent just MAY continue on this flop if he's got QQ, JJ, or somehow paired that board, maybe with 9Ts or something... in fact he may even go for a checkraise if he's an aggressive sort. In that case, you're bet size increases the likelihood that you can get his whole stack, or at least take down a considerable pot.

That's not going to happen every time you flop an overpair with your KK, obviously, but when it DOES happen, you'll be thankful for the play you made.

(Edit: actually with his stack size, which I hadn't thoroughly considered, any "considerable pot" means his whole stack. This also implies, oddly enough, that you probably COULD get away with betting less on the flop, because the risk of getting drawn out on is limited by opponent's stack size relative to pot... you COULD benefit from encouraging commitment with a smaller bet on flop, planning to get all in on ANY turn. I might bet $3.75 on this particular hand because of stack size, but that doesn't contradict the above advice in a more general context, and $6.50 ain't bad even here).

Dumb question about rakeback.

What is it? I know you get a percentage of your paid rack back into your account on a weekly/monthly basis- why does this practice even exist? Rakes are the bottom lines for casinos, so why are they letting us cut into it?

TL;DR I have a FTP account with no rakeback and I would like one now that I have heard about it.

Hi guys, I have a bankroll now of a little bit over 300$, and I want to play the 2$/180 mans mostly. Is 150 buy ins enough for these or a little bit short?

150 buy-ins is insanely conservative, in my opinion, unless you're incapable of playing a winning game, in which case no bankroll is big enough.

You will find many people who disagree with me on this. But I just don't understand those people.

I tried doing a thorough search of the forums for an answer to this but came up empty. I'm pretty sure it qualifies as a dumb question: In the replay hand window of HEM, all of the villain's stats show as 0 hands and null stats. Is this normal and is there a way to change this to villain's updated stats? Thanks in advance.
