How essential is PokerTracker to a new player? I have Vista and it's being a pain in the ass to install. Is it that important to my progression as a Poker player?

Not a question: just trying to get to grips with using hh converter...

Brag: just had an awesome session

I’ve played about 6,000 hands since having quit poker about a year ago, but I’d never before seen such a strange run of big hands preflop.

1 hour, 6 tables, 6max, played 553 hands:

6x AA, 5x KK, 5x QQ, 5x JJ, 8x AK, 8x AQ.

I figured the odds of getting this many premium pocket pairs in so little hands was about 50-50.

Some memorable hands

No-Limit Hold'em, $0.20 BB (6 handed) - Hold'em Manager Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

UTG ($18.47)
MP ($8.02)
CO ($27.85)
Hero (Button) ($26.04)
SB ($22.96)
BB ($19.95)

Preflop: Hero is Button with 6, 6
1 fold, MP calls $0.20, CO bets $1, Hero calls $1, 3 folds

Flop: ($2.50) 2, 6, 2 (2 players)
CO bets $2.40, Hero calls $2.40

Turn: ($7.30) Q (2 players)
CO bets $7.20, Hero raises $22.64 (All-In), CO calls $15.44

River: ($52.58) J (2 players, 1 all-in)

Total pot: $52.58

No-Limit Hold'em, $0.20 BB (5 handed) - Hold'em Manager Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

UTG ($10.99)
MP ($40)
Button ($30.72)
Hero (SB) ($41.72)
BB ($20.20)

Preflop: Hero is SB with 4, 5
UTG bets $0.80, 1 fold, Button calls $0.80, Hero calls $0.70, 1 fold

Flop: ($2.60) A, 3, 9 (3 players)
Hero checks, UTG checks, Button checks

Turn: ($2.60) 2 (3 players)
Hero checks, UTG bets $0.60, Button raises $2.20, Hero raises $5.90, UTG calls $5.30, 1 fold

River: ($16.60) 10 (2 players)
Hero bets $5, UTG calls $4.29 (All-In)

Total pot: $25.18
No-Limit Hold'em, $0.20 BB (6 handed) - Hold'em Manager Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

Hero (SB) ($26.80)
BB ($25.34)
UTG ($20)
MP ($25.49)
CO ($13.34)
Button ($19.30)

Preflop: Hero is SB with A, K

I can't seem to get this hand out of my mind, so I thought I would ask in this thread. This is from a 1/2 NL, 11-player table, live game:

My hand: AQ suited ... My stack is $160 & my opponent has about $450 (both stacks before the hand started).

UTG & UTG+1 both limps in, I raise to $15 (hoping to pick up the pot right then and there), all MP's fold, CO re-raises to $50. The remaining players fold and I call the $35.

Flop comes 7 K 9 rainbow. I check, CO bets $50, and I fold.

I called the re-raise before the flop because this opponent was playing a LAG, doing a lot of raising and re-raising before the flop, as well as firing continuation bets every hand he seemed to be in. In other words, I didn't give him credit for AA, KK, or AK before the flop.

What do you think my mistake was in this hand? Thanks for the input guys!

I'm about to make the big leap and start playing Real Money online Poker games. I was just wondering what the best ways are to deposit/withdrawal money from Poker stars. I'm a US citizen with a Visa Card, but I'm worried Visa won't allow the transaction due to legalities. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Try HEM.

Anyway: they're not essential, but they tremendously help for session reviews and your own stats (convergence, blah blah blah).

If you want to use a HUD, you can then also replace live reads with HUD reads. Sorta.

IMHO, your mistake was calling 1/3 of your stack pf, with the intent to c/f the flop.

If you believe your read is good, and villian is overly loose & aggro, you will be ahead of his range. Keep in mind there is a difference between a villian's raising and 3-betting range, as well as your image to account for.

If the conditions are right, I say you either shove behind his 3-bet, or if he's c'betting every single flop regardless, shove behind his c'bet although at that point you probably have no FE but could pick off his bluff if he doesn't connect.

More experienced posters, feel free to flame my strat.

I have really enjoyed the feedback (criticism:-) ) I have been getting on my play on this forum. What would be the best way to get maximum value out of this hand? Thanks in advance

Pretty essential. Try Holdem Manager if you can't get PT3 to run. Try the PokerTracker support forum.

Very good chance you won't be able to use your VISA.

Just a quick dumb question then. No matter which poker room I pick on something like the iPoker network, I will still be playing against the same players from the other rooms?

Do they stop you cross-signing up? Not to play at the same time, but so I can use up a duff affilate on one of the iPoker small card rooms, then move over to a poker room with a great affiliate when I've got some $$ in my account?

you havent played enough hands to show the average result. eventually, he will only seem to beat you 33% of the time, the actual average equity he holds.
