Not really a beginner... Not really a beginner...

Not really a beginner, but i've just joined up and would like to get involved with some of the discussion on poker

I have been playing on and off for about 5 or 6 years, but in the past 6 months i have started playing much more regularly since ive had some disposable income. (All online poker by the way)

6 month ago when i started playing pretty much everyday, i accepted the fact that i would probably loose my deposit in the long run, but it was ok because i was having fun. I even decided to set a weekly deposit limit on my Pokerstars account becuase i didnt want to get carried away.

In early December last year, i went to make a deposit, but because of the exchange rates from £ to $, the min deposit of $10, and me having already deposited that week, the only amounts possible were $9.99 or $10.01.
So i couldn't make a deposit at all..

I was so eager to play, i decided to download FullTilt. I had heard some bad things about FT but im very happy with it, and dont plan on going back to Poker stars anytime soon.

ANYWAY, i deposited $20 and began playing in the 1 table SnG and heads up SnG.. I have played, pretty much, everyday since i joined FT, and accumulated 850FTP in little over a month, from only playing the SnG micro stakes .. And i am yet to need to make another deposit! I have a '30 day rolling average' of 21.58 and this seems to increase daily.. I play so regularly, i've seen 3 royal flushes, several straight flushes and even had a straight flush of my own (is this normal to see the rarest hands in the game 6+ times in a month?!)

EDIT;im not sure if my rolling average, or accumulated FTP's is something impressive or not..Given the time its taken, but i thought it was necessary to include them..

I feel this is more then just luck, i genuinely feel my game has improved a lot over the past year.. But i want to start winning money, not just break even.

I write notes on most of the players i play, i pay a lot of attention to bet timing, bet size, pre flop and post flop actions, and how opponents played previous hands...Is there anything else i should be doing?

If you have bothered to read through all of that, thank you!

You play very small volume at the microstakes and slightly lose; the first thing to do is to accept that you're a beginner.

The next thing you need to focus on is your own fundamental game. It's very good that you're paying attention to the tables and taking good notes, that's a very important skill. But you need to build up the fundamental knowledge of how to play yourself and how to adapt to your opponents correctly for those to be very useful.

I would start by browsing around for some threads (either here in BQ or in the STT forum) and posting some hands that gave you trouble. Make use of the search function, most newbies to 2p2 don't and it's quite useful.

when you sit at a table after just a few rounds you should easily be able to tell which players are as good or better than you. that means you understand the plays that are happening around you. until then you are not probably a winning player. so tread lightly on playing and focus more on learning.
