My problem with satellites My problem with satellites

I play on numerous sites and always get the urge to play some sats to the bigger games, however when I check to see when the bigger game is playing, I can hardly ever play due to work commitments. I have emailed the sites to see if I could unregister and play the next one or receive tourney credits for the same value but none of them will do it.

I have heard pokerstars offer this alternative. Is this the case?

eg,

I play a sat to the sunday million and win a seat worth $215 ( I heard maybe the buyin has increased but just for arguments sake ).
If I unregister, will I only be allowed to play another sunday million, or could I play, say 20 $10 tourneys with tourney credits?

Thanks

Not sure enough to give you a definitive answer but try Internet gambling forum or ask Scotty in this thread maybe. Or someone who knows will be along in a minute.

When you satellite into a bigger tourney on stars, you can unregister and receive tournament dollars (T$). You will receive an equal number of T$ for the tournament you just unregistered from (unregister from the sunday mil. you get 215 T$). These can be used for any tournament or sng you wish, and are subtracted from your account instead of your cash balance. Once you receive T$ you will see an additional balance in the lower left corner of the cashier window. So you could play 21 $10 tourneys if you wanted to with those T$, or whatever else you wanted.

Also, if you are mostly a cash game player, there are sites (such as cashman brian and others) that you can sell these T$ to for 96% ish (may have gone up, not sure.. so if you sold 215 T$, you might get 205-210 in a cash transfer). These T$ sales must be approved by stars first so they are completely safe.

Full tilt has recently started doing the T$ also fyi.

Thankyou ice, that post was very helpful. Think its time to get on stars. Those 180 man sng`s look good as well.

Wolf, are there any sats where you have to play the tourney? I vaguely remember mentions of some which stopped me answering the OP definitively. Think it was Stars but not entirely sure.
rodders the $12 180-man turbos (3 played yesterday so smallish sample lol) seem really nitty once the no-hopers exit. I usually have trouble un-nitting myself but not in those, holdem is not my best game (ie I suck) but villains played really weak-tight after a couple of levels which surprised me greatly. I had fun playing them as well. Great format and shame I took so long to try them.

I cant think of any, if i'm wrong i'm sure i will be corrected.

rodders: The 180man sngs are def. donktacular. If you've got a small roll, the 4.40s can be extremely juicy. Playing patient and betting the hell out of made hands will easily get you deep. Then exploit passivitiy at the bubble, and esp the final table bubble while short handed. I've only played a few of the $12 turbos, and I've tended to run bad over a small sample of them (I was sad when I saw they replaced the $11 180 man sngs with a $12 turbo version, i wish they'd offer both). I've heard (havent tried yet) that the $22 180 sngs are fairly soft as well

Full Tilt has tournament dollars as well, and you can even convert them to real dollars (at a 5% fee, so I dont recommend doing it but still the option is there).

if youre not already on tilt, be sure to sign up with a rakeback code when you do!

There is one instance I thought of where you can't take t$.. and thats if you play the steps for ept or wsop events, you are only allowed the ticket.. no t$ for unregistering

Or you can go here -> http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showthread.php?t=1282 to sell your T$

I do it all the time on Stars. I find low buy-in satellite fields comparatively soft, so play those, and when I win, I unregister for tourneys for T$ which I then use for SnG's etc.

I don't have the time to play the big events like the Sunday Million, although may plan to set a couple days aside for WCOOP later in the year.
