Are there other guys here who compulsively check their bankroll variation during one session?

I ve always thought it was bad for me to do so, because it tends to give a result oriented mind set, and you want to chase your losses, and stop sessions when you are ahead. But somehow I ve always done it, and I ve played for 2 years +.

I used to look at the holdem manager graphs every 5 minutes for the day.

Then I became a bit better and just took my calculator and made the additions needed. I have money spread on various poker sites + neteller, hence the addition.

But I think I found what works best for me. It wont work on all the sites I play on, but it works on Fulltilt (because you cant see what is in your cashier without actually clicking on the cashier). I deposited a decent amount of money for my stakes, and left the rest of my bankroll on neteller. I know that I can bust my FT money and not be close to have to move down limits. And then I just play, forcing myself not to look in the cashier, nor the holdem manager. I basically voluntarily forget how much up or down I am. I just dont keep track of my bankroll. I do it maybe once or twice a month.

So far, this helps me so much to play without being result oriented, which is how poker should be played. My decisions are not being parasited by stupid chases of losses or whatever.

Anyway, maybe some of you guys who have this compulsive bankroll/result check habit could try it, play in peace, and better.

Good idea, but I don't think it's really enough of an issue for most people to justify going to all that.

I love checking my bankroll, and PokerTracker graphs. It so fun, but I am still an infant in the cash game world

Checking your bankroll while you are in the middle of a session is definitely a leak. I, too, am struggling with it but it's starting to get better.

it's not a leak. it's a leak only if you make it so.

ctrl+s on FTP, so easy to check - now you can check while you play without having to navigate to lobby and clicking on cashier.

I stopped checking my bankroll AS MUCH after I had a few good sessions where I won 5+ buyins. I was checking my bankroll heaps before when I used to quit after being up 1.

This is def a leak in my game, that and checking how many hands I've played. I do much better when I simply stop playing when I feel like I've had enough poker or I realize I am playing poorly, but looking at the cashier makes me to results oriented.

Big problem for me too. I sometimes feel like I have OCD. I not only check my balance on FTP, but I also check my FTP points to make sure I have enough daily FPPs to make Iron Man.

If you think this is a leak of yours, then do something about it !

I posted this thread because it feels like a good relief now, to be able to focus only on the game.

Try it. Just leave money you can afford to lose without having to move down on the room you play at. Then play and do the conscious effort to not check the daily results. Keep it voluntarily fuzzy.

Well at least it isn't just me that is constantly checking to see if I am a dollar up or down across my many tables lol. I do it constantly even if I know it hasn't changed since the last time....like I am making sure its still there lol, no idea why I do it.
