One of the guys in my poker group had a hand from an online tourney and there was some differing opinions on it. I wanted to get some opinions on it and also where I can find a good hand calculator for these types of situations.
Here is the hand:
Blinds are 500/1k
Villain who has 40k and is UTG raises to 3.5k
Hero who has 16k and is UTG +1 has AQ suited.
The villain was very active and had shown down some non premium hands previously.
Is this a shove, flat, or fold?

you should pretty much never flatcall 16bb deep in NLHE (there are some exceptions, but they are mostly beyond beginners forums), so that leaves us with shove or fold.

Assuming no extreme payjump considerations (for example, if this is not a big bubble), vs desribed villian this is a very easy shove, and so it is in the vacuum. The only way this is a fold is if you have a very good read that villian is an extreme nit

In the absence of other players/stacks and ICM considerations I'm jamming given v is loose

With the information provided, I am shoving. 16 bb isn't so short that I have to shove wide, but AQ is strong against a loose player. I am a bit concerned that he is bet sizing large from UTG, but I normally read that as a small\medium pocket pair and am willing to flip for stacks at this point.

Forgot to put that they are not near the bubble and not in the money.

The reason I am asking this question to others, is because to me it's a clear shove or fold. Flatting opens the pot to other players so that is not an option for me. I said that I would shove unless the player in question has never raised and is an uber NIT. I am always looking to build my stack and AQs is too good a hand with 16bbs not to shove.
