Move to FTP?? Move to FTP??

Hi

Ive just moved up to 25NL at PS and have about $600. Now i read a thread earlier about supernova and tht if ya can get to supernova then its better then rakeback at ftp. Now i dont have a chance of getting to supernova this year so i fink tht it will be best if i move to FTP and get rakeback.

Good table selection plays a big part in my game. Now i understand tht i'll be able to datamine so tht's great. But something thts worrying me is tht there is no filter at FTP so i cant just pick the 25NL games and thn sort by avg pot and players/flop%.

Does any1 else have trouble wiv this aswell and do you think its a good idea moving to FTP??

Thanks for any Replys

i played alot of 10NL at full tilt before i found out how bad the rake was. but really for searching for tables there its not that bad at all really. might take you a few minutes longer but imo dont let that detour you from switching since the rake back would be alot better than stars if you cant hit nova.

Hey rakeback is better on full tilt if you are playing 25nl. You also get the $600 deposit bonus so that will be a nice bonus although it does affect your rakeback a bit.

Your not allowed to datamine anymore on full tilt though.

Well you can do it but it is against their rules. Although in one of the ftp threads Doug said that while you are not allowed to do it, it isn't as serious offense as say collusion. But do it at your own risk I say.

I also play 25nl on stars and only make gold star each month. I estimate my rakeback to be about 10%, much less if i want to exchange for cash. There really is no reason to grind 25nl on stars. At FTP you can get triple that rakeback and this adds about 40% to my winrate compared with just 15% on stars. I tried depositing to FTP last night and was banned because I was apparently underage so have to send them a bunch of documents now.

PS sucks for 25nl if you dont make supernova, FTP sucks for shi**y customer support and hackings.

When I signed up years ago, I didnt configure my account to have a rakeback on FTP. Since then I have signed up on a "rakeback" site and notified FTP. They said they are "reviewing my account and may give me one". It seems unfair to be punished because I signed up before rakeback became such a large part of online poker. I also have a small account on stars, so I am thinking of switching my BR over. I play pretty small stakes (about a 300 BR) but have been putting more time into it lately. Since stars has a rakeback equivalent, should I switch over? Thanks...

If you are playing <10nl then i hear that the rake on FTP is absolutely murderous so i recommend you switch to stars in that case. For 25nl - 100nl I think the rakeback on ftp is far far better than the stars FPP equivalent unless you play like 80,000 hands a month in which case the difference is not so big.

i think that what they really dont want is someone with 18 tables opened 24hours a day, but you still can look some tables for some time and collect some data...

I wouldn't take a risk by datamining... FT policies are sometimes inconsistently enforced.

Excuse my ignorance here, but when you use the term "datamining" what exactly do you mean? Is using the hand history capturing feature of PT a type of datamining? I am still learning the tricks of the trade of online poker...

Thanks

AFAIK, it's considered datamining only if you grab data from tables that you're not playing hands at.

If you have PT record only the hands that you're playing, that's permissible.

I think dataminers set up their PT to grab hand histories on lots of tables, even when they're not even at their computer - they get data on other players without having to spend the time at the tables. This is what the sites frown upon.

Yeah I am completing against datamining, a player should only know something about you if they have played you!

On another note, does anyone know what FTP's rake rate is? I just tried searching their entire site and couldn't find anything on it. A link would be good, thnx.

Without rakeback, Stars is miles above FTP.

6.67% at 10NL and below, 5% everywhere else. They start taking the rake when the pot hits 15 cents instead of a dollar like pretty much everywhere else.

Hey a little out of point but just wondering what do you guys do with the FPPs since it seems as valuable as the money you get from rakeback.

Their cap everywhere is $3 (except HU and some high stakes table, I think). At >10NL they take 1 cent for every 15 cents in the pot, and at <25NL they take 1 cent for every 20 in the pot.

I just made the move to 25nl from 10nl. I love playing on Stars and I've been there since 2nl. But everyone keeps saying to move to full tilt once you hit 25nl because you are losing money. To be honest, I'm not a huge grinder. I play 2/4 tables max, and probably play an hour or two a day.

At what level/stakes would it be profitable to keep at Stars? Is it 50nl or platinum? or 100nl and supernova. Or whatever? I don't mind hanging around at stars for a level or two, but if I'm losing tons of money, then it's probably silly to stay.

I wonder how many 25nlers make the switch.

A 'dealt' rakeback deal is far superior to PS VIP levels.

If you 6 table NL100 FR 6 hours everyday, you'd get about $56 a day RB. About $1,700 a month.

Now playing the same at PS, you'd only get about 50,000 player points a month, which only gets you a $650 bonus.

You'd be getting about 22,000 VPP's a month, so you'd qualify for a $2,000 milestone bonus per year- but you'd get $1,200 a year off FTP's Iron Man.

It is not unless you are a Super Nova Elite that PS VIP becomes better than rakeback because you are earning 5x as many FPP's per VPP. It would equal RB then you'd get the massive milestone bonuses.

However, I'd personally warn you not to play FTP- their RNG is a ****ing joke...just do some research on it before even considering putting money on there.

I played the micros at Stars and then switched to FT once i hit 25nl. Its definately worth the switch because of the RB. On average playing ~25k hands a month ill make at least $200 in RB. which is 8 BI's at 25nl.... so you can see it definately adds up.

As well, if you get RB with someone like TITN theres alot of promos like "rake $500 in a month and get Stox free for a month" so promotions like that help. Also, on the topic of stox, FT has that trulyfreepokertraining program that you can earn stox/cr memberships without actually spending FTP (you just have to EARN them).

Overall I think FT is definately the best place (or any other place with rakeback) for anything up to ~200nl would be my guess. After that I would make the switch to stars to try hit SNE. This is my plan for next year.....

Wow... you seemed like a smart guy until the last little bit there.... you've been a member here a year and you still think online poker is rigged??? its a RANDOM number generator not RIGGED number generator

I appreciate the advice. Rakeback seems like a significant difference.

It seems like I should move. And I had just made my peace with the doomswitch, now I have to deal with RNG?
