I'm a U.S. player, playing on ACR, trying to build a bankroll. Has anyone noticed this: I play cash and Sit n Go's, It seems I am better playing $5 Sit n Gos and NL100, because I seem to know where I am in the hands. The smallest stakes just seem to be a mess. I am trying to play within my bankroll. Has anyone else noticed this same thing?? should I just skip the very smallest stakes??

Sample size? I mean if you're crushing 100nl over 80k hands go for it.

If, as I suspect, your sample is much smaller, one of the reasons you may be doing OK is that the regs don't have stats on you yet, once they do they'll exploit your leaks and own your soul.

$5 SnGs on ACR are pretty soft, but you will 100% get crushed at 100NL if you do poorly at micros.

The idea that you cannot beat a level because the players are too bad is a complete misconception. You can easily find ways to take advantage of the myriad of mistakes your opponents are making. You cite a greater awareness of where you are in hands as a reason to play higher stakes but it is the tendency on behalf micro stake players to play a very wide range passively that will get you paid. In the same spots at higher limits you will encounter far more folds.

thanks everyone,
my sample is not 8000 hands it's smaller. I really think I wanted to hear these comments. I'm too inpatient, and I do not really have many people to talk about poker.

You should stay within your bankroll, many people were thinking the same thing " at NL100 at least i will know what everyone is doing", and the truth is you will probably get crushed.
If you think you are that much better, move up one level and see how that goes ( if your BR allows it ), but just play one stake at the time and exploit the "messy" plays as much as you can.

I've always believed poker should be treated like a video game where you beat one level and move on to the next. If you can't beat a certain level you just won't be able to compete at the next one.

I am going to keep everyone updated, I definitely understand the concept of 1 step at a time. I am a slightly winning/ not crushing player at the smallest micros. I have about 35000 hand sample, I am starting to review those hands and try to improve. In no way was I implying that I could just skip a few limits and destroy the regs. I guess I need to work on being "clear" in my posts. Again thanks to all who responded, I do not have a big group of friends to talk about poker with.

So a little update, a month of basically break even, which I am definitely not happy with. I guess I need much more work. I did not put in that much volume because of Life. (excuses)

Anyway I have not really made any contacts with which to discuss hands and stat with. I guess I am going to join a training site just to have people to bounce ideas off of.

Like right now ,I have no idea if I should start a new thread will people even see this post etc.....

hahaha. there are definitely lurkers, I've found two or three fairly new players (like me) in the space of 4/5 days to chat about hands with. I'm taking Feb off basically, and then after that will get stuck into learning poker and discussing hand histories and everything. One of them is even gonna coach me. If you fancy joining (it will probably be fairly irregular sessions from Mar/Apr till the summer), send me a private message

otherwise GL!

If you really think you can beat 100nl then play 100nl. Are the comments in this thread the only thing stopping you?

I have also found the smallest stakes ($0.25/$0.50) are crazy, but if you play tight and take advantage of the craziness then you do well. Isn't poker about adapting? I keep moving up because I get annoyed at them, and then either not playing well enough for the higher levels or getting sucked out on when I *am* playing well, so my bankroll hates me. I'm gonna stick to the smaller ones and learn to nail them and work my way up.
