Hi Mrbambocha,

To get a pot sized bet you work out how much is in the pot after you have called.

e.g. if there is $50 in the pot and someone bets $10, the first thing you need to do is work out how much would be in the 'pot' if you called the raise.

$50 + $10 + $10 = $70

then you add your call to this amount $10, to give you a pot bet of $80.

A quick rule : to get to the pot bet, multiply the last bet by three and add all other bets including the pot.

e.g. in above example.

last bet is $10 so x 3 = $30
no other bets to add
add pot $50

$50+$30 = $80, which gets you the pot sized bet again.

Another example. Pot is $20, someone bets $5 someone else calls the $5, then someone raises $20.

1. Last bet x 3 = $20 x 3 = $60
2. Add all other bets = $5 + $5 = $10
3. Pot = $20

So pot size bet = $60 + $10 + $20 = $90

A quick shortcut that I sometimes use is whatever the current pot size is (should be displayed for you somewhere) plus twice the amount that it costs to call.

Example: In a 1/2 game, someone raises to $6. 9 + (6*2) = 9 + 12 = 21.

It also doesn't hurt to memorize common scenarios so that you don't have to spend time working out the math at the tables.
