How much do you believe luck is a factor in Poker?

IMO, I believe it is a much greater factor than people think. It's funny because even Ivey once admitted that the best advice for any poker player is to run good.

If you honestly think about it........you have a hand preflop which can be +ev or -ev.........but the flop changes everything...

Phil Gordon (whom I am not a fan of) admits that he just hits sets more than he should......over the long run that translates to more money.

Heads up is a totally different story however, there is much skill involved there. I am referring to 9max and 6max.

Good, you've found the secret to success!

10 thousand hands can be luck influenced enough by luck to make a winner break even and a loser a winner

there is no luck just variance, once you figure this out that much of a better player you will be.

Yup, unless you believe that some people have a god-given gift of getting better cards, there is only varience.

IMO there is luck & skill mixed in life.

Everything in life has luck, if you run better than most you can do amazing with any skill: For example poor dumbasses that win the lotto.

If you have a lot of skill you can counteract your terrible luck: For example, those people that go from being dirt poor to some of the wealthiest people in the world.

That's the way I look at poker.

Bannnn... got it right. "Luck" is the same for everybody in the long run. I think we all know that deep down, but it can be hard to convince ourselves of it after a really bad run.

After a really good run, however, it's easy to agree that skill is a huge factor in poker.

I must be unlucky. Looking at my dealt hands in PT, AA is my bottom PP. KK is smack on as expected. JJ is my highest dealt pair.

In suited, and offsuits, a number of my Ax hands are lower than expected.

Its quite fun to look at, but I only have about 10k hands, which is the equivilent of each specific combination about 9 times.

I imagine that after 100k hands, these numbers will be insanely close to each other.
