Low stakes, tough decision? Or not? Low stakes, tough decision? Or not?

Just a slow-moving 1-2 game on a weekday afternoon.
Middle position player makes standard raise to $12. Small blind calls.
Hero in BB peeks down to discover Ah-Kh. Strongly considers three-betting but elects to just call.
Flop is a beauty: Ad-7h-6h.

Small blind checks, Hero checks, raiser checks.
Turn is the 7D.
Hero lead out for $30 — and is surprised to get a $35 raise from original opener.
Small blind quickly folds.
Hero is concerned about the paired board but calls the raise.

River is the spade queen. Hero checks.
Original opener thinks for maybe five seconds, pushes his last remaining $104 in the pot.
Hero considers the possibility of him holding A-A, another A-K, K-K, K-Q, 8-7 or 7-x.
Hero studies raiser, an average looking 40ish guy who has not gotten out of line, for maybe 60 seconds.
Hero consider the price the pot is laying him, roughly 2.5-1, and reluctantly folds.

Good decision? Or not?

The only reason you had a tough decision on the river was because you flatted AKs pre with less than 90bb effective stakes. River decision is whatever, you're underrepped and he could have anything from quads to a missed flush or straight draw that decided to take the pot off what looks like an obvious missed draw. Don't focus on whether your river decision was good or bad, fix the poor play that gave you the decision in the first place.
edit - what made hands check back this flop IP with both a straight and flush draw out there?

Agree with Kalaea. Not Only what Kalaea said but WHY would you check that flop ?
You're fairly strong and giving a straight or flush draw a free look. As played it was played pretty poorly. IMO

3b pre, honestly could jam if <100bb eff

turn bet/call ok, could also jam

river is very trivial call imo unless you think this guy literally only ever raises the nuts. Also shouldn't even have many/any 7x from MP anyway.

OP, the meta concept here is simple. You want your opponents' decisions to be hard and yours to be easy.

If you 3! to 50 pre, even if you don't fold out one or both, you clarify their ranges better AND the SPR is so low, the rest of the hand plays itself.

By flatting between the raiser and the caller, you make your decisions much more difficult.
