Hi,

I used to play cash games back in the day using HEM2 / Tableninja. I worked my way up the stakes from 2NL to 25 NL profitably over 100k+ sample size at 25NL Zoom on Pokerstars (Over 1 million hands at all stakes) before taking a crack at 50NL, having a bad run, falling apart and giving up on online poker.

Looking back I was probably very close to being able to making some decent money on the side but gave up before that transpired. Regardless, I would now like to give it another shot and can probably dedicate around 8hrs of study + 10-15 hrs of playing time a week into doing so.

This time I would like to attempt to take advantage of some weaker playing pools at either MTT's or SNG's and have some questions for anybody that would be kind enough to answer.

1) I understand that SNG's have a lot of bots and earning good money at higher stakes is very difficult in comparison to MTT's. I understand that MTT's are still very profitable for a grinder looking to make a side hustle, is this correct?

2) If I was looking to convert to MTT's, as the short handed games are where the real money is made I understand that it would still be beneficial to adequately understand Heads up & 3 max SNG strategy before attempting MTT's, does this sound like a good strategy to prepare for MTT tournaments?

3) If you were starting from scratch and wanted to become a player that makes a good hourly rate playing poker, how would you go about it and what would be your strategy to achieve your goal?

I never really remember hearing that being suggested back when I used to play, I always thought that PLO was more for serious players and less for fish.

Do you think that learning to grind online Texas Holdem MTT's or SNG's to the point where you can earn on average $15+ an hour not really realistic for the vast majority of people nowadays then?

Well back when you used to play, NLHE was not analysed to death and an incredibly game task to be profitable beyond the micros, and learning the basics (which was and still is a piece of piss) was good enough to make you a few dollars, so people weren't incentivised to learn how to play poker

+1 to plo, way softer fields nowadays compared to hold 'em.

Given the house takes a cut unless you have a group of fish continuously dumping large money for the size of the game it is not possible for a majority of the players to win.
