There a nice guy here, he sucks, would you buy him beer? He loves to drink and is really funny when drunk. I'm up 100 atm.

Or is it like toking, and you should only do the minimal and if you have too?

Paying a small price to get a fishy opponent to stay AND maybe become tipsy.... seems worth.

If he plays worse and enjoys himself then sure why not. It could make you money and keep him around if he is stuck.

I have done this with whales who are spewing tons of money on the table and are just there to have a good time.

So for someone who has 3+ BI's in their pocket and is spewing, its +EV.

For someone who is shortstacking 50bb and only has a few rolled up tens in their pocket, its -EV.

I buy the beer for myself.

But anyway, as others said, there can be times to do it. sure it can be plus eV but it can also make the game more enjoyable in general which can lead to more $ for u as a by product

By toking you should smoke at least a gram per beer- or else youll get drunk. when people offer free beer i ma break that rule- but I always offer to toke them outside.

If I genuinely like someone, then yeah I'd be happy to buy them a beer. If I don't like someone, then I'm not going to buy them a beer.

I don't disagree with anything above. But where are you all playing that the drinks are not already free?

Do you buy drinks for people you like outside of poker? If you want to buy him a drink, then take it out of your pocket and not from your stack. That said, if it's to get a drunk buzzing to take advantage of him at the table, then it's obv profitable, but I don't do that myself.

Coming from Atlantic City, I was shocked when I had to pay for drinks here in Ohio (and Lawrenceburg, IN). Weirdest thing ever to me, but it's like state law or something.

No..no...that my friend is a good investment! You will usually see a return on your "investment" right then and there during that session!

Those type of guys love to just have fun and frolic (frolic!?) and use the poker table as their personal stage to entertain people. They love the attention and most of all that's what they're focusing on, the attention they're getting from their craziness because they certainly aren't focusing on the game.

So buy that man a beer!! A six pack by god!!!
