Had a situation arise in a home game. The big blind is $100 and this is post flop action in NLHE. Can the under the gun player make the first bet of $150? Or is that an illegal amount and it should be $200? Raise was not verbalized only the word bet with a $100 and a $50 chip thrown in.

Thanks!

Post flop the player is allowed to bet any bet that is higher than the big blind.

Not equal to the big blind?

If you meant preflop instead of postflop, the opening bet has to be at least twice the big blind.

Postflop, the initial bet must be equal to or greater than the BB. Any amount greater is fine since there's no active bet to raise.

Preflop you can either call the BB, or raise to at least 2x since the BB is an active bet and anything other than a call must be a legal raise.
