i liked learning fundamentals with books and playing hands...seeing all the important stuff written down worked for me greatly, and only when i started to understand that did most of the videos i watched start to help. i think with a lot of the videos we are encouraged to be thinking more critically about certain things whereas book learning is more about absorbing knowledge which i think is a better start.

The more I learn the more I realize that poker is about consistency and ability to calmly put in volume. there s no book or video to learn that. One just needs to figure this out himself I guess

The single most important thing is experience. And your ability to learn from that experience.

Obviously.
What I mean (and this is just me thinking) is that the more I learn the more it seems to me that strategy is just based on common sense.
for example: "isolate a wide range if people limp fold a lot, 3 bet light if people fold to 3 bets a lot.. c bet the right kind of flop if people fold t c bets a lot..Try stealing the blinds if they re tight players and you ll have position on the flop if called" I mean poker cannot be based on just knowing these things which are just common sense right?thus I m wondering whether It isnt more a question of having the ability of staying calm while putting in the necessary volume. of course I might be wrong

Why reinvent the wheel. If you can learn from someone else's mistakes without having to make/pay for them yourself, why not?

Experience is certainly irreplacable....but learning from books and video can speed your success by making your time at the table more educational than it may be otherwise.

not a lot of this is common sense for a beginner. and even the things you described are slightly beyond beginning fundamentals (hand ranges, betsizing, how to play certain hands). but i agree with you in a way...that what you say is definitely way overlooked. im also assuming you include tilting as part of staying calm? so so so overlooked

bcoz volume is irrelevant wether ur a good or bad player

if u were to say that volume is a bad thing if ur a bad player, its lyk saying if u play too much its a bad thing because u lose.

Take your money go to a casino/card room and learn at the tables like a real man.

Honestly I played live for 4 years before ever reading a book. After just recently buying a book I wish i would have bought one years ago. I actually knew quite a bit of it but they were things I learned at the table. What I got from playing instead of reading is hand reading skills which IMO is just as important or maybe even more important as the math.

I will prob say the same thing about video's if I ever join a video site.
